Working in teams of 4, each group will select one
topic 1.Salem Witch Trials 2. Alien and
Sedition Acts 1798 3. Espionage Act 1917 and
Sedition Act 1918 4. Palmer Raids and The Red
Scare 1919-1920 5. Japanese Internment/Executive
Order 9066 6. The Taft-Hartley Act 7. HUAC 8. The
Patriot Act

Using the topic explorations and search site
menu options in the ABC-CLIO American History
homepage, students will research their topics and
prepare a class presentation with the following
guidelines
1. Each presentation must provide clear, relevant
and written details related to the group topic.
(Names, dates, causes, results, etc.) 2. Each
presentation must include at least one large
clear visual related to the topic. 3. Each group
must engage the class in a thought provoking
discussion that assesses the level to which the
government did or did not go too far it its
attempt to maintain national security 4. Each
group must finish its presentation with a short
oral quiz.
