- FIFA Laws of the Game interpreted for ACOA for
use in Intramural Soccer
2Law 1 2 Field of Play Ball
- Field measures 80X50 yards
- Goal area measures 6X20 yards
- Size 5 soccer ball
3Law 3 Number of Players
- Maximum of 9 players on a team
- One must be a goalkeeper
- Minimum of 7 eligible players to play
4Law 3 Substitutions
- WHEN?
- Own throw-in
- Any goal kick
- After any goal
- For an injury
- Opposing teams throw-in IF the opposing team is
substituting as well. - Opposing teams corner kick IF the opposing team
is substituting as well.
5Law 3 Substitutions
- Where?
- Player may leave the field anywhere
- Players enter from the half line
- How?
- With the referees permission
- Illegal?
- A player shown a red card may not re-enter the
match and may not be replaced.
6Law 4 Equipment
- Players may not wear metal cleats.
- Shinguards are NOT mandatory, but STRONGLY
recommended. - No Jewelry including
- Necklaces, earrings, bracelets
7Law 7 Duration of the match
- Two (2)- 25 minute halves.
- Continuous running clock, unless deemed necessary
by the referee to stop (ie. Injury). - At the end of regulation if the game is tied
there will be a 5 minute sudden victory overtime
period. - During season play, if after the 5 minute over
time period the game is still tied, the game is
recorded as a tie.
8Law 7 Duration of the MatchPlayoffs
- If at the end of regulation the score is tied,
there will be two(2)- 5 minute sudden victory
over time periods. - If, after the over time periods, the score is
still tied, the winner will be decided by kicks
from the mark. - Each team elects 5 individuals to alternate shots
on goal from the penalty mark. - If it is still tied, there will be one kick at a
time to break the tie. Different players must be
selected for the single shots, than those in the
original five shots.
9Law 8 Start and restart of play
- Games begin at scheduled time. If teams are not
ready to play at that time, they will forfeit. - Coin toss
- Visiting team chooses heads or tails
- Winning team chooses side to defend
- Start and end of each half with a whistle
- All other restarts may be vocally announced (ie.
PLAY) if necessary

- Goalkeeper takes longer than 6 seconds to release

by a teammate - Plays in a dangerous manner
- Impedes the progress of an opponent
