72008/09 ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
- All teachers, utilizing the Power School student
information system, will take attendance within
the first ten (10) minutes of the class period. - During the first hour of school, the designated
site attendance personnel will make every effort
to contact the parent/guardian of any student who
is reported absent. - These attempts must be documented and provided to
the Attendance Counselor when the policy is
enforced.
8 When a student has accumulated the 1st, 2nd,
or 3rd unexcused absence, the office staff will
make contact with the students parent/guardian
to determine the reason for the absences. The
staff will then accurately enter the correct
attendance code into Power School and any
parent/guardian reasons/statements will be
documented. When a student has accumulated the
4th unexcused absence, the Attendance Counselor
will mail a USPS certified Parent Notification
Letter to the parent/guardian, which will include
the advisement of the required Parent/Student/Scho
ol conference where a plan for improvement will
be implemented. This conference will occur
within 3 days of the parent receiving the
letter. When a student has accumulated the 8th
unexcused absence, the Attendance Counselor will
mail a USPS certified Parent Notification Letter
to the parent/guardian, which will include the
advisement of the required Parent/Student/School
conference where a re-write of the plan for
improvement will be implemented. This conference
will occur within 3 days of the parent receiving
the letter. When a student has accumulated the
11th unexcused absence, the Attendance Counselor
will mail a USPS certified Parent Notification
Letter, which will include the advisement of the
required Parent/Student/School conference where
an alternative education plan will be
implemented. This conference will occur within 3
days of the parent receiving the letter. The
Attendance Counselor will contact the
parent/guardian and discuss available resources
to assist them and their child.
9When a student has accumulated the 16th unexcused
