Title: Learning Different
1Learning Different
What if they had listened? What if they had
believed? What if they had not followed The
dreams which they conceived?
2For Fred Astaire was told that he could only
dance a little, Enrico Caruso was informed he had
no voice, Vince Lombardi was notified that he
lacked motivation, And each was invited to make a
different choice.
3Louisa Mae Alcott was encouraged to find work as
a servant, Charles Darwin was considered a very
ordinary boy, Beethoven was called hopeless as a
composer, And how many more dreams did we all
destroy?
4Walt Disney was fired for lack of ideas, Albert
Einstein was declared mentally slow, Thomas
Edison was too stupid to learn anything, But
then, what did those other people know?
5The sculptor Rodin was considered an idiot, Louis
Pasteur was only mediocre in school, Isaac Newton
was labeled as a poor student, For I guess each
broke at least one rule
6Leo Tolstoy flunked out of college, Winston
Churchill flunked 6th grade, Henry Ford went
broke five times Before the millions he made.
7And now who among us remembers the name of any of
those nay sayers Who once declared or wrote or
said That one of these children who appeared to
be learning different Had no potential within
that special head?
8But what if these geniuses had listened? What if
even one of them had believed? What if they had
not followed The dreams which they conceived?
9Perhaps we should all be more careful what we
say To children who may represent the
extremes For too many children have sat within
our classrooms Who have given up on their dreams.
