1The Frozen Tundra
By Paige Pruett Sparta Elementary 5th grade
2Habitat Description
The tundra is probably the coldest region in
the world. In the winter fierce winds blow white
snow, and ice covers the ground. Even the sea
freezes as the temperature gets colder. The
tundra receives 6 to about 18 inches of
precipitation a year, but most of it is in snow.
The average temperature for the winter is between
-20F to -30F. Their summers are about 6 to 10
weeks. The summer temperature is never above 45F
to 50F.
