5Achievement 2006 Goal
- The Kodiak Island Borough School District like
many small districts in Alaska, is data rich but
knowledge poor. Achievement 2005 will address the
need through the use of information management
technology to transform and integrate data into
information that can be used to drive
instructional decision-making, to evaluate
program accountability and to support a cycle of
assessment, analysis and actions into daily
instruction.
6Achievement 2006Objectives
- Identify assessment instruments and data to
drive the decisions that guide classroom
instruction - Train Teachers to employ anAssess, Analyze and
Act Cycle - Create a data warehouse available to all
educators to collect data in a fully searchable
and inter-relatable format
Project Product Tri alpha cycle

9D.A.T.A. Project Goal
The ultimate goal is to turn clean data on
students into information that teachers and
administrators can use at their desktops to make
informed educational predictions and decisions on
a daily basis. Rather than to supply out-dated
data about where students have been, we will use
timely information to formulate where students
need to go and plan instruction accordingly.

information retrieval among its five buildings
and the district office - Professional Development facilitated by a
full-time trainer based on identified needs
Project Product Staff Survey
12D.A.T.A. ProjectActivities
- Alignment and standardization of K-12 standards
for longitudinal data access and conversion of
old historical data - District Friday Staff Development for project
awareness and standardization - Surveys and Focus Groups to gain baseline on
expertise in assessment, data and technology,
also data and training needs
