2Business Services
- Business services staff will attend Montevideo
WorkForce Center staff meeting once a month to
inform staff of current demands and concerns of
businesses in the region.
3Focus on Demand Occupations
- Design and maintain information poster that
focuses on high demand occupations to be
displayed in WorkForce Center Resource Area and
provided as a hand out. This poster and hand
out would need to be reviewed quarterly and
updated as needed.

skills Reliable, hard working, computer
operation, ability to read and write English, and
follow instructions You can find work as
Electronics assembler, food procession
production worker, personal care assistant,
nursing assistant, production worker or assembler
5Educate Job Seekers
- Inform Job Seekers utilizing the computers in the
resource area of targeted and high-growth
occupations by utilizing the scrolling marquee on
the computer screen savers.
Need a job today? Are you reliable, hard working,
etc You could be a PCA, production worker, food
processor.
6Educate Job Seekers and more . . .
- Target high priority, high wage, high growth
industries by showcasing industries in resource
area and obtaining industry specific information
from target businesses by hearing guest speakers
and taking industry tours.

7Educate Job Seekers
- Renew relationship with Adult Basic Education in
the region. Contact Jennifer Rude (new staff)
and make arrangements for staff to meet with
Jennifer to discuss how staff can better
coordinate ABE, ESL and GED activities in the
region.
8Skills Identification
- Explore options for skills identification process
for all job seekers. Staff will explore and
research options that are currently available
on-line that may be able to be utilized for this
purpose.
9 Staff Training
- Staff training on computer skills and resources
was identified as a priority for being able to
provide job seekers with quality information and
training in the areas of completing on-line
applications and resumes, setting up e-mail
accounts, providing accurate labor market
information, options on career laddering and
better able to assist job seekers in the
WorkForce Center resource area.
10 Staff Training
- Staff will identify their own area of expertise
and provide training to co-workers. Each staff
person will go on-line and complete a specific
company application, print copies of the process
as they go through it and share company specific
information to staff.
11Train Job Seekers
- Develop a job seeker check list that job seekers
are able to have available as they develop their
job seeker tools. The process would be more
organized and less frustrating. The job seeker
would have more successful outcomes.
12Job Seeker Assistance
- To provide better quality placement assistance to
individuals that have registered on Minnesota Job
Bank, Montevideo WorkForce Center staff would
search WINS on a weekly basis for Job Bank
registrations.

- Those that have e-mail addresses will be
contacted via an e-mail message to explain to
them the benefit of a complete Job Bank
registration, tools available in the resource
area of the WorkForce Center and invite job
seekers to visit the WorkForce Center if they
havent already done so.

- During the month of October 2006, there were 73
new job seeker registrations and 36 had e-mail
addresses included in their registration. In
November 65 individuals registered and 25 had
e-mail addresses.
