Oh, honey, I dont know if youre ever going to
have a baby sister.
But, you know that we will always have each other.
Well, honey, I need to be married to have another
little girl.
I know, but I still wish that I could have a baby
sister, too.
Mom, when am I going to have a baby sister like
that Princess?
Really?

Steve has been very nice to take you out to
dinner, too, so remember what I said about
behaving yourself?
Its ok, Mommy. Steve said that it was alright,
so now, I have an announcement to make to
everyone.
Excuse me, everyone! This man here has to marry
my mother so I can have a baby sister.
Its ok, Kathy. She is just a little girl.
Yes, but she still should not be standing on her
chair. Please sit down, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth! What are you doing?
Elizabeth!!!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful Christmas.
I am so glad that you could spend the day with
us.
Thank you for inviting me to spend the day with
you two.
It truly has been a wonderful Christmas! We have
so much to be thankful for.
I think that Elizabeth mostly enjoyed the many
presents, though. I cant believe how many
presents there were! Its probably a good think
that there arent more or else she would be too
spoiled.
Well, Elizabeth may have opened all of her
presents, but I have a feeling that theres still
one more present over there for someone else.
What are you talking about? Those presents
arent for us.
Kathy, will you marry me?
Of course!
It has been a great Christmas.

• One year later

It had better be a girl, though. Im not putting
up with a little boy running around the house!
A baby sister! Im going to have a baby sister!
I promise that I didnt have anything to do with
the lamp!
I meansure, Mom. Whats up?
Well, yes, honey. We are going to have a baby.
You are going to be a big sister to either a baby
girl or a baby boy.
What is the one thing that you have been wanting
for a long time now?
Yay!
Now, whats this about a lamp?
Wait! What lamp?
Besides that, what else?
Honey, can I talk to you about something?
A puppy!!!

• Eight months later

I dont think that I want a little sister
anymore. You are always too tired to play with
me, now.
How come you never read to me on the top bunk
anymore, Mommy?
Well, as you can see honey, I have a little baby
inside of me, so I cannot climb all the way up
there anymore. I have to be careful.
Oh, honey, you dont mean that.
Of course. I will be a great big sister!
I know. I just want you to be able to play with
me again.
I will be able to soon enough. You have been
such a great help to Mommy and Daddy. You are
going to make a great big sister! Will you
continue to help me after the baby is born?
Thats my great little girl.

• When Kathy goes to the hospital to have her baby,
  Elizabeth spends the night at her Aunt and
  Uncles house.

I just want her to come home
I dont want a little sister anymore!
You dont have to worry, honey. Your mom is
going to be just fine. And when you wake up
tomorrow morning, you will be a big sister!
Elizabeth, are you ok? You dont look very well.
Im fine.
Now, why dont you try to get some sleep, and I
will wake you in the morning for school.
I know.
I hope that everything turns out alright
But, what if my Mom isnt ok
What if something happens to her

Everything is going to be alright, Elizabeth.
You dont have to be so worried.
I will call your school as soon as I hear
something. Until then, you should not be so
worried.

HmmI wonder what is wrong with Elizabeth.
Its ok, Elizabeth. That is normal. Im sure
that well hear from your Mom soon.
You have been so excited for so long about having
a little sibling that this is great news!
I know, but my Mom has been gone for so long.
Im scared because my Mom is in the hospital.
She is having a baby.
Elizabeth, whats wrong?
That isnt anything to be afraid of.
Usually she is so talkative and cheerful during
school.
