Human Rights Who Goes Where
Human Rights 1
  • Lord of the Flies by William Golding deals with
human rights in many parts of the story. The
survivors in the story did not give each other
all the rights they should have. In the pages
ahead, there is a brief explanation on what human
rights are, what discrimination is, and how it
relates to the book Lord of the Flies.

Human Rights The Various Age Differences
Human Rights Oz 3
  • Human Rights is a large broad topic
  • Everything seems to relate to itself!
  • I will be discussing what Human Rights are
  • How they are not applied equally
  • And how simple misunderstandings can be one of
the many reasons why human rights are not equally
    applied

6
What are Human Rights?
Human Rights Oz 4
  • Human Rights, or natural rights, are the rights
given to all humans at birth.
  • This means that we have all the rights listed in
the Constitution and Bill of Rights
  • (Life, Liberty, and Happiness)

7
Equality for All?
Human Rights Oz 5
  • Different age groups are looked upon differntly
  • Discrimination relates to age on many levels
  • For example, some people are denied work because
of a sterotypical classification of their age
groups (i.e. the teenagers and elderly)
  • This subject tends to be very similar to what
Suzy is going to talk about

8
Misunderstandings
Human Rights Oz 6
  • Misunderstandings of when younger people, such as
toddlers, or even teenagers, can lead to
    violation of human rights
  • When someone does not understand what is meant by
a certain comment or deed, they tend to feel the
need to protect themselves, lashing out
  • This hurts those who were just trying to say that
    they do not feel equal

9
Age Differences Conclusion
Human Rights Oz 7
  • Age affects many human rights one should have,
and it can be extremely frustrating especially
for teenagers because they have all the
responsibilities of an adult, just not all the
    same privileges.
  • The human rights that should be given to all are
    always not available to some.
  • One of the various ways that happens is through
    misunderstandings.

Human Rights Discrimination
Human Rights Polk 10
  • Discrimination is something that everyone
    encounters in his/her life time.
  • It may be because the color of your skin or the
clothes you wear on your body
  • Discrimination is the topic of this paper. In
particular, I will be discussing things that
cause discrimination and how it pertains to human
    rights.

13
Discrimination
Human Rights Polk 11
  • There are two types of discrimination, Direct and
Indirect. The first type is direct, Examples
are not being given an employment opportunity,
not being allowed access to a certain place,
good, or service, being treated less favorably,
or being subjected to a detriment such as hate
    crimes, being tormented, and stereotyping.
  • Indirect is any conduct or practice of
discriminating against a person even though it
    may appear to be neutral.

14
Conclusion
Human Rights Polk 12
  • Human Rights are the rights you are entitled to
for simply being a human being.
  • Laws and courts are designed to protect your
human rights, although sometimes they fail at
    protecting all of them.
  • Today international standards help to ensure
human rights when national governments do not.

Human Rights Relating Lord of the Flies
Human Rights Shreve 16
  • Human Rights are the natural rights that every
human being is born with, although sometimes they
are taken away. In my report I will be presenting
Discrimination and other human rights issues and
how they all relate to Lord of the Flies.

19
Related to Lord of the Flies(Discrimination)
Human Rights Shreve 17
  • The Survivors were not always fair to each other.
They would sometimes ignore the littleuns, or
just include them as another member of a tribe to
    obtain more people and power.
  • A clear example of discrimination in the book is
when Jack said Sucks to the littleuns (Golding
    101)

20
Relating to Lord of the Flies (Human Rights)
Human Rights Shreve 18
  • In the beginning the boys were considerably more
reasonable in the way they treated each other.
  • They decided to be fair and vote for their leader
    (Golding 22)

21
Concluding the Relation to Lord of the Flies
Human Rights Shreve 19
  • Now that I have shown how discrimination and
other human rights issues and all can be related
to Lord of the Flies, one can begin to see just
how very broad Stephanie said this topic was.
