I have had the great experience of meeting with
special educator, Karen Nasseri, and Dr.
Yarbrough in Crittenden County to develop a plan
of action for increased achievement for all
students. The strong enthusiasm expressed by the
staff will ensure accomplishment of goals and
success for all. -Susan Clifton, WKEC
I attended the first academic meet at CCMS
yesterday.  I just wanted you to know how
impressive and professional our students and
sponsors were.  As a parent, I certainly
appreciate the extra time and effort teachers
give to ensure our students have opportunities to
grow and to shine.  Ms. Roberts and Ms. Duncan
are to be commended for their efforts and for
leading CCMS to their first win.

Dr. Notes
  • When I think about the great work that each and
every district employee is called to perform each
day, I am reminded of how grateful we should be
for such an opportunity. Working each day to
improve the quality of education in Crittenden
County has such a powerful internal reward for
all of us. Let me pause and say thank you for
how you attempt to make our school district
extraordinary. Please make sure you share all
of the positive work that is going on right here
in our schools. You are making a difference and
for that we are all grateful.
  • Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity it
must be produced and discharged and used up in
order to exist at all.  William Faulkner

  • WE ARE LEARNING
  • A team of leaders from the Crittenden County
School District had a unique opportunity to
attend a nationally recognized Get Motivated
seminar at the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN on
Monday, October 27th.  This session featured the
    following national leadership experts
  • - Rudy Giuliani former Mayor of New York City
  • - General Colin Powell former Secretary of
State, Chairman of Joint Chief of Staff
  • - Pat Summitt NCAA Division I University
of Tennessee Head Girls Basketball Coach
  • - Zig Ziglar - Americas No. 1 Motivator
  • - Bruce Pearl NCAA Division I University of
    Tennessee Head Boys Basketball Coach,
  • -  Brian Tracy Americas Top Authority on
    Sales and Marketing
  • -  Rick Belluzo Legendary President of
    Microsoft
  • School district participants included members of
the Crittenden County Elementary teacher leader
team- Sarah Riley, Mollie McGowan, Kay Kirby,
Julie Dally, Jennifer Beverly, Ruth McClure
    principal - Melissa Tabor instructional
    supervisor Tonya Driver and superintendent
    Dr. Rachel Yarbrough.
  • Quotes from participants
  • Everyone is motivated, but everyone is motivated
differently." From this comment, I surmised that
we need to know the likes, interests and learning
styles of our students to gain an understanding
of what motivates each one. When we're able to
find out what motivates them and we differentiate
our instruction based on that motivation,
learning becomes less of a "have to" and more of
a "want to" on their part.

    Home/Hospital Teacher)
