Miss Freys Mathematical Gazette
Greetings and Welcome! I am especially
delighted to have your son/daughter in my class
this year. This is the first monthly newsletter
that you will receive. I will do my best to
update you on upcoming school events, student
progress, and more. Please note that the return
address that I use may be disguised. If you do
not receive a newsletter by the first week of
every month, please e-mail me so I can keep you
informed.
Syllabus Savvy Please review the syllabus your
child brings home and sign off on it. It is your
sons/daughters responsibility to bring it back
signed. Since it is a contract between the
student and I, the student must sign it too. One
rule that the students dislike is the teacher
detention assigned if they fail to complete
homework for a random homework check. If
continual academic or behavioral problems arise,
I will be informing you via phone or e-mail.
Dont be afraid to contact me if you have
specific questions about your childs progress.
Thank you! ?
School Supplies! Again? Your teenager should
have a one-subject notebook, which will be kept
in the classroom and used as a journal. I prefer
that the students buy a one-inch or two-inch
binder because I use a lot of scaffolded notes
and hand-outs. This binder should be brought in
every day along with the textbook or workbook. I
also recommend that each student carry a pack of
pencils and pens in his/her book-bag because I am
not responsible for the students writing
utensils. Preparation is key!
Contact Me I am easy to reach at any time! If
you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail
me at freya_at_kingphilip.org or jude782_at_aol.com
Also, you can leave a message for me at the high
school at (508)384-1000, and I will get your
message at the end of the school day. Parental
involvement is important for your childs
success, so please feel free to contact me
whenever possible. Check out my website at

Open House I would be more than happy to meet you
in person and answer any questions that you may
have. Open House has been scheduled for
September 22rd from 7-9 PM. Your child should be
bringing you home a filled-out schedule. Also,
progress reports are due out around the end of
September or the beginning of October. Please
mark these dates on your calendar so you can be
looking for them. Other important upcoming
events are listed below. Yearbook/ID Pictures

Freshmen Elections Sept. 23rd Rosh Hashanah
begins Sept. 16th Game Tournament Sept. 28th 7PM
Calculator Crisis! I will not provide any
students with calculators in class this year.
Budget cuts have made it difficult to acquire
supplies. Also, my sets of calculators have been
taken by students and not returned. This class
requires a scientific calculator. These
calculators cost approximately 10 to 15 and can
be found at Brooks, CVS, Walmart, and
Stop-and-Shop. Your son/daughter does not need
to purchase a graphing calculator (which costs
100) at this time. The scientific calculator
will also benefit students taking MCAS and SAT
tests this year. Make sure your child labels it
with his/her name. If money is an issue, contact
me as soon as possible.
Parent of a Senior? The mighty juniors from last
year have now progressed on to senior year and
that means I move on with them as their class
advisor. The senior prom will be held at Lake
Pearl Lucianos in Wrentham on May 27, 2005. The
parents of the Class of 2005 have always been
very involved in the past, and I am hoping to
maintain that involvement until Graduation Day.
If you have any ideas or questions at any time
throughout the year, please feel free to contact
me. We always welcome your input.
