2. - It took 9000 pictures of Neptune /Rings/
Satellites. - It was launched on August 20, 1977.
- It arrived on August 24, 1989.
- It was a Fly-By mission.
- Naiad, Thalassa, Despina, Galatea, Larissa, and
Proteus (some of Neptunes Satellites) were all
discovered by it. - It found a smaller dark spot.
- It found a white cloud that goes around Neptune
every 16 hours. - Its pictures showed Neptunes rings to be
complete and also have bright clumps.

11Planets Discovery
End Show
- Instead of looking in the sky to find Neptune,
Astronomers found it with math. After Uranus was
discovered, scientists were confused when truing
to figure out its orbit. They hypothesized that
there was another planet farther from the sun
interfering with Uranuss orbit. Their hypothesis
was correct. A French astronomer named Leverrier
and an English astronomer named John Couch Adams
did the math that said Neptune should be. German
astronomer Johann Galle observed it.

Color of the Big Blue.
- Neptune's color (blue) is mainly the result of
absorbing red light by methane in the atmosphere
but, there is also some more currently-unidentifie
d chromophore which gives the clouds their blue
color.

is unknown.

in a different position.
