Kiosk Mainframe Software
  • Mainframe Revision Plan
  • The review of the mainframe code has been
    conducted successfully.
  • Conclusion
  • There is not enough time to rewrite the mainframe
    from the scratch.
  • The mainframe has to be stabilized as it is.
  • One of the (possible) reasons for the instability
    has been identified
  • 500 error on court house Kiosk
  • GUI and taxonomy
  • Is the revision necessary?

4
Kiosk Mainframe Software
  • Mainframe Instability
  • Court house 500 error
  • The error screen gave us a clue.
  • Replication of the most stable code with mimic
hardware seems like the most time efficient
    solution available.
  • Questions?

5
Watchdog Software
  • The assembly code was carefully investigated and
    declared field deployable.
  • Field test is to be conducted in near future.
Should a problem arise during the test phase, it
    will be fixed promptly.
  • Questions?

6
New Project Proposals
  • New VIC block diagram is available on the white
    board in the Smittys lab
  • Software team is currently brainstorming and
evaluating new ideas for the next project for LCC
  • Scheduling software
  • Denvers media player idea
  • Etc, etc
  • Questions?

7
Currently.
  • Stability issue might be related to objects and
functions declared for no apparent reasons.
  • They are still called and used in mainframe.
  • This can cause issues due to the nature of Java
and how it handles polymorphism (different
    functions with same declaration)
  • I can be dead wrong on this and deleting those
phantom objects and functions can cause more
    problems.

8
Currently.(cont.)
  • Once again, the code is a mess. The software team
can barely read and understand it.
  • We are behind schedule but please be patient.
  • Please dont throw rocks at us.
  • Good news!
  • Watchdog is completed both in hardware and
    software.
  • It is still to be field tested.
  • And, once again, please dont throw rocks (and
    rotten tomatoes) at us. ?

Kiosk Hardware
  • Current Hardware Status
  • Full phone functionality
  • Including programmed PIC microcontroller and
    phone network
  • Kiosk hardware deployed and functional
  • External Watchdog Timer
  • Hardware populated
  • Next step gt field testing

11
Hardware Team Goals
  • Reproduce control box code with phone
    functionality (updating library kiosk)
  • Complete external watchdog timer assembly code
    and hardware
  • Implement the external watchdog into redesigned
    control box hardware layout
  • Finalize all testing, reproduction, and
    documentation of hardware

12
Project Partner Considerations
  • Met with project partner and stated sub-teams
    goals for this semester
  • Discussed external watchdog timer and possible
    new project ideas

13
Design Process
  • Current Phase Detailed Design Phase of Design
    Process
  • (watchdog timer)
  • Deliver Final Product Production Phase of
    Design Process
  • (fully functional to meet project partners
    needs)
