Title: The End

1
Boring!
  • The End
  • Well Maybe
  • February 8, 2007

2
ENDINGS
  • The conclusion of a piece should bring the story
or essay to a satisfactory close for the reader.
Think of the rough draft as separate parts
connected by a string the conclusion is the knot
holding the parts together. Without a strong
knot, the story falls apart. For this reason, the
writer should put as much thought into the
    conclusion as into the lead.

3
End with a Wrap-up of the entire story
  • Wrap-up- tell the reader how everything falls
    into place.
  • -Aunt Isabel Tells a Good One by Kate Duke

4
End with a Surprise
  • Surprise- to reveal the unexpected character,
action, behavior, etc. in your story.
  • First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg

5
End with Reflection
  • Reflection- looking back and providing insightful
commentary about an event, action, character
    behavior, etc. in the story.
  • -Charlottes Web by E.B. White

6
End by Circling Back to the beginning
  • Coming Full Circle- create a circular ending that
is reflective of the storys beginning.
  • -A Series of Unfortunate Events The Bad
    Beginning by Lemony Snicket

7
Try it on your own
  • Write a Full Circle Ending
  • OR
  • Write a Reflective Ending
  • for My Favorite Day

8
My Favorite Day(with a circular ending)
  • Ashley and I are still best friends, but
whenever she gets in trouble, I tease, Do you
remember that time you went to Six Flags Jail?
To this day, I only need to say Youll be coming
with me, little lady, and the two of us fall on
the floor in laughter. We have many memories of
our times together, but the Six Flags Slipup
    remains our favorite.
