2Creating a Template
- On the Assets tab of the Files window, click the
Templates button. - Right-click the Template pane to pop out the
quick menu and choose New Template. - In the new templates name field, type the name
you want the template to have, and press Enter. - Double-click the templates name to begin editing
it.
3Creating Template Content
- Onto the template, enter the text and graphical
elements that you want inherited by pages based
on the template. - In this example, create a layout table consisting
of two rows and two columns. - In row 1, column 1, put a logo (spy.gif).
- In row 1, column 2, create a banner.
- In row 2, column 1, put sidebar navigation.
- Leave row 2, column 2 blank for now.
4Templated Elements
In the next step, you will make this be the
templates editable region.
5Creating an Editable Region
- In the design window, click to position your
cursor at the spot where you want to create an
editable region. - In this example, click in the empty table cell
that is under the banner. - Pull down the Insert menu, choose Template,
choose Template Objects, and select Editable
Region the New Editable Region dialog appears. - In this example, name the region MainContent and
click OK.
6Main Content Region
In pages made from this template, authors will be
able to edit this MainContent region.
Everything else is fixed, i.e., not editable.
7Creating a Page from a Template
- Save the template by clicking ctrl-S, or use the
File menus Save option. - To create a page from the template, go to the
assets tab of the Files window and click the
Templates button if it is not already selected. - Right-click the templates name to pop out the
menu, and choose New from Template.

1. Right-click the templates name.
2. Choose New from Template.
3. Enter your content into the editable region.
