The embedded CAPT Tasks

• 1st component - Performance task in which
  students design and implement an experiment
• 2nd component Gathering of the data and drawing
  a conclusion to solve a scientific problem
• There are15 unit assessments that are aligned to
  the 15 Standards associated with the 9th and 10th
  grade curriculum, which includes scientific
• Literacy,
• Numeracy
• Inquiry based learning

• There are five main topics
• Each of the topics includes a lab component and a
  Science Technology Society (STS) activity
• Three are part of the 9thgrade Curriculum
• Energy Sources

• Polymers
• Two are part of the 10th grade Curriculum

• Enhanced labs utilization in all courses
• Science Curriculum Review for CAPT preparedness
  which include noticing that students were not
  being prepared for the CAPT with our current
  scope and sequence
• East Windsor High School has been ahead of the
  high school Science community by requiring three
  credits of Science to graduate
• Students will be able to make informed decision
  based on a scientifically literate knowledge base
• Students will have the opportunity to manage
  scientific course work if their post-secondary
  goals include college or industry
• Students will have developed critical thinking
  skills
