printer from the internet. I made some notes from
my own words.

WHAT IS INSIDE THE PRINTER

• Circuit Boards

• The large chip labelled Intel is presumably
  the printers CPU. Theres also a large chip made
  by AMD If you carefully you can see that the
  large board is in fact 2 separate parts one on
  top of the other. The top PCB is the post script
  card.

• The first photo shows the state of the printer
  and the lower one shows the 1mb memory card (
  bringing the printer up to a total of 2 megs ).

Inside The Printer

• When you pull off the main board you can see
  another metal frame to remove. This you use brute
  force and our fliers to snap off the cable pies
  that are preventing further dissection. Here you
  can find another PCB.

Stepper Motor

• After pulling off this board and removing the
  metal it was attached to so you can find some
  some more interesting parts. The first of these
  was the stepper motor.

Power Supply

• I wasnt quite sure what the final PCB was for,
  but the 2 transformers seem to suggest that it
  was some thing power-related. The long wires in
  the picture below connect the power supply to the
  power switch.

What Is A Printer

• A device that prints text or illustrations on
  paper. In terms of technology utilized printers
  fall into the following categories
• Daisy-wheel similar to a head ball type writer
  this type of printer has a plastic or metal wheel
  on which the shape of each character stands out
  in relief. Daisy wheel printers produce better
  quality print but cannot print graphics.
• Dot-matrix Creates characters by striking bins
  against an ink ribbons. Each bin makes dot
  combinations of dots characters illustrations.
• ink-jet sprays ink at a sheet of paper. Ink-jet
  printers produce high quality text graphics.
• Laser Uses the same technology as copy machines.
  Laser printers produce high quality text
  graphics.
• LCD LFD similar to a laser a printer but uses
  liquid crystals or light emitting diodes rather
  than a laser to produce an image on he drum.
• LINE PRINTER It contains chain of characters or
  prints that prints entire line at one time. Line
  printers are very fast but produce low quality.
• THERMAL PRINTER An expensive printer that works
  by pushing heated pins against heat sensitive
  paper.
