outside world. It is an efficient, all-digital,
and global Inmarsat system that supports
telephone and telefax services, telex and
Internet and LAN access, as well as the emergency
services required for deep-sea and passenger
ships. The hardware consists of a
sensor-stabilized antenna above decks and an
electronics unit and its peripherals below decks,
usually on the bridge of a vessel. - A typical installation offers
- Telephone of broadcast quality.
- 9.6 kbps Group 3 (G3) telefax.
- 9.6 kbps data communication (ASD).
- 56 or 64 kbps data communication (optional).
- 50-baud telex (optional).
- Encryption (optional).
60-1-5WORLDWIDEMini-M
- The MVS Mini-M phone with 0-1-5 WOLRDWIDE service
makes voice and data communications fast, simple,
and reliable. Whether you're scaling Mount
Everest, filing a story from an international hot
spot, or staying in touch from one of the world's
more desolate regions, the Mini-M phone delivers
unbeatable, cost-effective communications
services. The Mini-M utilizes breakthrough
advances in satellite communications technology
to provide coverage that spans the globe. - The MVS Mini-M phone is a portable, compact
telephone system that allows two-way
communication from one lightweight unit.
Packaged with MVS global 0-1-5 WORLDWIDE service,
it offers digital phone, fax, and data services -
including voice and fax mail notification and
Internet email access. - This satellite phone terminal functions fully
with office-based communications systems,
computers, fax machines, and existing Inmarsat
technology. It weighs less than five pounds with
the rechargeable battery, and easily slips into a
briefcase, duffel bag, or laptop carry bag.
70-1-5WORLDWIDEGAN/M4
- If reliable, high-speed land based communication
is what you are looking for then Inmarsat GAN/M4
service is your best choice for a truly portable
high-speed data terminal. It is a unique tool for
fast worldwide communication. The 64 kbps
bandwidth of the GAN terminal and the Euro ISDN
interface make it possible to browse the
Internet, connect to your Local or Wide Area
Network, transmit in real time and store
forward video conferencing, send pictures, and
broadcast quality voice. All of this is made
possible by plug play applications, which are
easily connected to the GAN terminal. - It is also possible to use the Inmarsat MPDS
service (Mobile Packet Data Service). When using
this service you will be charged per transmitted
Megabyte and not per minute. This means
flexibility, choice and cost savings. - Browse the Internet, check your e-mail, transfer
large data files, conduct video-conferencing,
send a fax or speak on the telephone, anywhere on
the globe. GAN offers complete independence at an
affordable price.
80-1-5WORLDWIDEFleet Family
- Inmarsat's Fleet family consists of units that
provide single integrated voice, fax and data
service offering a choice of communications,
including Mobile ISDN and a revolutionary Mobile
Packet Data option that allows ships to stay
"always connected" during a voyage anywhere in
the world. - With Mobile Packet Data, users pay for the amount
of data they send and receive, rather than how
long they stay online. - And the latest voice safety provisions for
deep-sea vessels are also included with the Fleet
family, as defined by the International Maritime
Organization.
90-1-5WORLDWIDEInmarsat C
- The Inmarsat-C satellite system provides two-way

hand-carried or fitted to any vessel, vehicle or
aircraft. - THE SYSTEM Communications via the Inmarsat-C
system are data or message-based. Anything that
can be coded into data bits can be transmitted
via Inmarsat-C. Messages are transferred to and
from an Inmarsat-C terminal at an information
rate of 600 bits/sec. Inmarsat-C is available in
all four Inmarsat satellite coverage ocean
regions. Examples of some popular maritime
services commonly used with Inmarsat-C are
SafetyNET, FleetNET, data reporting and polling,
