PARTNERS EXPERIENCES OFW International
Management Corporation (OFW-IMC)
  • Pooled OFW fund realization is dependent on a
    common and stable remittance tool.
  • VIP treatment because the OFW company has one of
the highest pooled fund in the local branch
  • Easy bank to bank fund transfer for business site
    construction
  • Remitting Bank as a Promotional Partner - Total
support of bank management to OFW-IMC activities
and projects such as OFW Gathering last December
    by providing prizes and giveaways
  • Limitation - Difficult to trace fund remitter's
name because of the limited banking system

15

Different Remittance Options
  • Teaching/Helping Migrants Know Other Options /
    Learn all the Available Options

    for every referral

TULONG PINOY MOVEMENT Difficulties Experienced by
OFWs and Beneficiaries
  • Beneficiaries with no bank access in rural areas
  • No identification cards
  • No self-confidence to talk to a bank
representative - Banks as "elite" places
  • Beneficiaries find it as an unfamiliar system
  • - Unpreparedness to meet this constraint

17
TULONG PINOY MOVEMENT Difficulties Experienced by
OFWs and Beneficiaries
  • Some informal channels are considered even for
large credits with easy to pay installments
    though
  • with an average of 20 interest.
  • Most informal channels are more friendly.
  • They appear as next door - trustworthy fellows
    with cheaper remittance charges.

18
TULONG PINOY MOVEMENT Difficulties Experienced by
OFWs and Beneficiaries
  • Banks have so many requirements under a rigid
    process for approval of loans.
  • Formal channels have a limited time to process
transactions - usually office hours only
