History of The Simpsons

• Began as a series of animated shorts in 1987
  which aired on the Tracy Ullman Show.
• Entered syndication end of 1989 on the Fox
  network.
• In the earliest episodes, Bart was the
  protagonist.
• Homer proved more popular, and became the primary
  subject of later episodes.

• Self-proclaimed underachiever.
• Most famous for his writing on the chalkboard and

• Musically inclined sings, plays the saxophone,
  acoustic six-string, and electric bass

• The perpetual baby, Maggie never ages.
• Most well known for pacifier sucking.
• Shot Mr. Burns, the local miser, in addition to
  mobsters who intended to whack Homer.

• Became the longest running prime-time animated
  series in 1998, and longest running sitcom when

  kept a mystery, often going to great lengths to
  avoid mentioning it, and occasionally emphasizing
  the mystery.
• The location of Springfield was revealed in the
  Behind the Laughter clip show, as, well, if you
  look at the clues, you should be able to figure
  it out.
