Whats new for libraries with scanners?
2What is the connection? This will become clear
when we go through examples.
Used for updating the request status and changing
the messages in the Users Self Services page.
Some procedures are determined by information
that will already be in the Ariel Archive Queue.
Used for scanning and posting to the web. Web
Delivery requires input of the patrons name and
the article title from Workflows.

6Scanning
Scan the document into your archive. The file
name should match the request number on the
request printout.
Important!
If the request is determined to be a paid service
the person scanning should append a P to the
file name in Ariel. This indicates that it will
be a Paid request. It is important to have this
P there to make sure that it is processed as a
paid request in Workflows.

8Workflows Ariel process
Go into WorkFlows and bring up the request to be
filled.
Example 1 Free request. The service library is
Alexander and the Patrons home Campus is Newark.
9Modify Request Reply Tab
Go to the Reply tab. Change the status to
RU-A-FILD. You will know it is a free request
because there is no P at the end of the file
name in Ariel. Fill in the Reply field with your
Keyboard Express Macro.
Reply Macro Your article will be posted to the
Web shortly. You will receive an email notice
with instructions for retrieving it when it
becomes is available. If you have any questions

10Return to the Request tab. Click MODIFY when
done.
Take note of the Patrons name. You will need to
input this later.
These steps are new and are important for web
delivery in Ariel.
Highlight the article title and hold CtrlC to
copy the text.
11Final Steps
Now, go back into Ariel and double click on the
request you want to send. This will bring up the
Archive Queue Entry box. Fill in the Patrons
name. Click on the Bibliographic button.
Insert Patrons Name, (including middle initial).
12Bibliographic
This will bring up the Bibliographic Description
box. Paste the article title into the Title
field by holding CtrlV, then click OK.
13Save Changes
You will be asked if you want to save current
changes. Click Yes.
You will now be back at the Ariel Archive Queue.
Make sure the request that is highlighted is the
one you were working on.
14Send to Posting Station
From the Document pull-down window select Send.
Send to the Patrons home campus posting station
(New Brunswick/ PiscatawayAlex Imaging Services,
NewarkDana, CamdenRobeson).

16Workflows Ariel process
Go into WorkFlows and bring up the request to be
filled.
Example 2 Paid request. The service library is
Camden and the Patrons home Campus is Camden.
17Modify Request Reply Tab
Change the status to RU-A-PAID. You will know it
is a paid request by the P at the end of the
file name in Ariel. Fill in the note field if
the request is over 30 scanned pages. Fill in
the Reply field with your Keyboard Express Macro
and Click Modify.
If the Ariel record shows that the request is
over 30 pages, as in this case, indicate how many
pages in the notes field.
18Return to the Request tab. Click MODIFY when
done.
Take note of the Patrons name. You will need to
input this later.

Now, go back into Ariel and double click on the
request you want to send. This will bring up the

23The Billing Process
- The report will include the account number and
the note field if it has been filled.
RU-A-PAID
- This will be sent to Imaging Services for
processing.
- We will handle contacting accounts that need to
be supplemented.
