11920's Cultural Clash
The Traditional Vs. New Beliefs
2Cultural Clash
- During the 1920s, Americans culture beliefs
changed - Many of the older generation held a traditional
belief - Women stayed at home cared for children
- Took care of the family
- Men worked a 5-6 day week
- As your parents got older you took care of them
- Family always came first
3- The other side of the coin held new beliefs
- Gone were the beliefs based on family, church,
and the traditional roles of family - Some of these were a direct result of World War I
- Women saw they could be a productive part of
society - Women had gotten the right to vote and were
looking for even more basic rights - Women saw themselves as taking care of themselves
not marrying right away

29Review
- We have seen how Prohibition played a role in the
lifestyle of the 1920s both the good and the bad - We have seen the affect that this new era in life
changed forever the way both men and other women
looked at each other - These things have played a role that would
forever change the landscape of America and good
or bad only time has been able to tell.
