Mission of THON

• THON is fundraising over a year-long effort
  involving thousands of students and culminating
  in a challenging, 2 day, no-sitting, no-sleeping
  dance marathon
• THON is changing the lives of students and
  children, reinforcing the importance of caring
  for one another, and inspiring the determination
  needed to beat cancer
• THON is helping to conquer pediatric cancer
  through strategic investments in hospital bills,
  research efforts, and a new family-centered
  Pediatric Cancer Pavilion at the Penn State
  Childrens Hospital.

Christopher Millard

• Chris was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 11
  and struggled for 3 years to overcome cancer. At
  the age of 14 he lost his battle.
• Charles and Irma Millard established the Four
  Diamonds Fund after the death of their son
  Christopher
• Chris Millard wrote the Four Diamonds story in
  school and the message was clear
• Courage, Wisdom, Honesty, Strength
• Today, the fund has helped over 2000 families

• 1973 First Penn State Dance Marathon is held
  in the HUB, 2000
• 1979 First THON donation to the Four
  Diamonds Fund
• 1983 Six-figure mark is passed, 131,000
• 1992 THON raises over 1 million
• 1999 Moves to Rec Hall
• 2004 THON pledges 10 million over 6 years
  to build Pediatric Cancer Pavilion
• 2008 THON celebrates its 35th anniversary in
  its new home the BJC raising 6,615,318.04!!!

  (SLDP) is being built to help in your pursuit of
  internship / full-time positions, based on your
  desired company interests and career aspirations
  long term.

  building, professional communications, scavenger
  hunt, how to market yourself, negotiation
  skills/conflict management, and executive
  interaction
