Hubble Space Telescope
  • The Hubble Space Telescope is orbiting the
Earth 370 miles above Earths atmosphere.
  • It is a space observatory in the great
observation program and it was named after the
    scientist Edwin Hubble.
  • Because of the Hubble Space Telescope,
scientists discovered more galaxies, and planets.
  • The Hubble Space Telescope helped scientists
come up with the Big Bang theory. Astronomers use
the Hubble Space Telescope to take pictures and
give a closer view of the wonders of the
    universe.

Big Bang
  • Some people believe that the Big Bang theory was
    how
  • the universe was made.
  • The Big Bang theory says that there was a small
    sphere of
  • gas with matter that once exploded.
  • The matter that was in that small sphere created
    all the
  • galaxies, planets, solar systems, and the
    universe.
  • Astronomers estimated that the Big Bang happened
    between
  • 12 to 14 billion years ago.

4
  • Thanks to the Big Bang, matter was spread in the
    whole universe.
  • What is matter? Matter is something that has
    mass and takes up space.
  • When matter was spread in the universe,
    planets and galaxies were made.
  • There is a different type of matter called dark
matter. Some scientist believe that dark matter
to be subatomic particles that rarely interact
    with
  • Ordinary matter.
  • Did you know that 90 of matter in the universe
is invisible? This will help astronomers
    comprehend the universes density.

Galaxy
  • Galaxies are large systems that contain millions
    of stars and matter.
  • There are four different types of galaxies,
  • spiral, elliptical, irregular , and the
    Lenticular
  • The type of galaxy we live in is an spiral
    galaxy.
  • The name of our spiral galaxy is called the
  • Milky Way.
  • The Milky Way got its name from a Greek myth
about the goddess Hera, who sprayed milk in the
    sky.

6
Solar System
  • Solar Systems were formed from giant clouds of
    dust
  • and gas.
  • Over 98.8 of the mass ended up in the sun, our
    nearest
  • Stellar neighbor.
  • Our Solar System has 8 planets after Pluto was
    considered
  • no longer a Planet.
  • This Solar system contains asteroids, meteors ,
    and stars.
  • No one knows how many Solar Systems could be in
    the
  • Universe.

7
Planets
  • Most of the matter is contributed to the sun, the
rest of the matter was contributed to planets.
  • Scientists have discovered that we actually have
8 planets in our solar system, not 9 after they
discovered that Pluto was not a planet.
  • Who knows if there are other planets out there in
    the universe?

8
Gravity
  • What is Gravity? Gravity is a strong force that
keeps us on earth and prevents us from floating
    into space.
  • Gravity is a force that holds all the planets in
the imaginary line, which shows the order of how
scientists believe the planets evolve around the
    Sun.

9
Albert Einstein
  • Albert Einstein was born in Germany, on March 14,
    1879.
  • Albert Einstein believed the universe was
    static, which means
  • something that stays the same and does not grow.
  • If he was alive he would be surprised with all
    the knowledge
  • that we now know because of technology and
    scientists hard
  • Work.
