    Buckminster Fuller

  • Join and serve and lead.
  • Go where at least some of the people dont look
    like you.
  • A person is a person because he recognizes
others as persons. Desmond Tutu (commenting on
    relationality)
  • Friendship... is not something you learn in
school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of
friendship, you really haven't learned anything.
    Muhammad Ali

15
Title Gregory of Nyssa and the Concept of Divine
Persons Author Lucian Turcescu By itself it
(Platonic) would suggest that a person is merely
a collection of properties. Gregorys great
contribution was to perceive the importance of
relationality to personhood. The three divine
persons know and love each other, are in
communion with each other, and freely act
together in their common will. This
understanding, argues Turcescu, adds up to a
concept of personal uniqueness much like our
modern one.
16
Suggestion 3 Think Globally
  • Acquire a second language
  • So as a prelude (to any reconcilliation) whites
must be made to realise that they are only human,
    not superior. Steven Biko
  • Are you the ugly American?

17
Suggestion 4 Develop IT skills
  • E-mail, Internet, Web page development
  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Outlook
  • Access

18
Suggestion 5 Get an edge.
  • I have seen that in any great undertaking it is
not enough for a man to depend simply upon
    himself. Isna-la-wica, Teton Sioux

So live your life that the fear of death can
never enter your heart. Love your life, perfect
your life, make beautiful all things in your
life. Tecumseh, Shawnee
  • Any extra degree, skill or insight is an edge.

Get a Grip

Suggestion 6 Take the initiative. (Training?)
Change before you have to. Jack Welch
Everyone who got where he is had to begin where
he was. Pope Paul VI
John Francis "Jack" Welch, Jr. (born November 19,
1935) was Chairman and CEO of General Electric
between 1981 and 2001. Welch gained a solid
reputation for uncanny business acumen and unique
leadership strategies at GE. During his tenure,
GE increased its market capitalization by over
400 billion. He remains a highly-regarded figure
in business circles due to his innovative
management strategies and leadership style.
His Holiness Pope Paul VI (Latin Paulus PP. VI),
(Italian Paolo VI), born Giovanni Battista
Enrico Antonio Maria Montini (September 26, 1897
August 6, 1978), reigned as Pope of the Roman
Catholic Church and Sovereign of Vatican City
from 1963 to 1978. Succeeding John XXIII, who had
called the Second Vatican Council, he presided
over the majority of its sessions and oversaw the
implementation of its decrees.
20
Suggestion 7 Be ready for additional new
projects. Be a team leader.
Volunteer
"If we are to achieve a richer culture, rich in
contrasting values, we must recognize the whole
gamut of potentialities, and so weave a less
arbitrary social fabric, one in which diverse
human gifts will all find a fitting place."
Margaret Mead
Get involved, the future belongs to those who
show up.
21
Suggestion 8 Do good work.
and listen to Campbell about bliss. "Follow your
bliss. Find where it is, and don't be afraid to
follow it.
Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't
used to an environment where excellence is
expected. Steve Jobs
Be terrific at what you do.
Listen to Rumi (1207-1273) about passion What
makes Bobby go?
Do the job right the first time.
It is important to note that following one's
bliss, as Campbell saw it, isn't merely a matter
of doing whatever you like, and certainly not
doing simply as you are told. It is a matter of
identifying that pursuit which you are truly
passionate about and attempting to give yourself
absolutely to it. In so doing, you will find your
fullest potential and serve your community to the
greatest possible extent.
