There are three brothers who like to ride dirt
bikes. The oldest boy is Austin. Austin is very
careful and obeys all the time. Jeff is the
second youngest, and he is competitive. Jacob is
the youngest and is whiney.

"Hey, Mom, can we ride our dirt bikes on the
cliffs?" asked Austin in a happy voice.
"Sure," said his Mom. "Be back by noon."
"Come on, let's go!" Austin yelled as he went
outside. His brothers Jeff and Jacob followed
him. They all said bye to their Mom and Dad and
went off. While they were driving in the hills,
they saw a huge cliff. Suddenly Jeff said,
"Race you guys to the top!" Then, Jacob
yelled, "Hey, that's not fair. You got a head
start!" "Well, hurry up!!"

When Jacob and Austin caught up with Jeff.
Jeff's engine ran out of gas. "Oh, dibble,
gibble, nuggets!" Jeff said in an angry voice.
"Now, how am I going to get home when we are
all the way out here?"

Looks like you have to walk it, said Austin.
So they tried to tow him and his dirt bike up
the cliff, but the dirt bike was just too heavy.
They had to leave it there and go look for a gas
station that sold dirt bike gas. They suddenly
noticed a gas station about two hills away. They
started down as fast as they could.

Finally, when they got to the gas station, a man
asked what they were looking for. When Austin
answered, he said, "We are looking for mid-grade
motor bike gasoline." The man said, "Well, you
have come to the right place." Then Austin
said, "Thank you, Sir." Just then Jacob asked,
"Can we get some snacks, too?" The man said,
"Sure. Just come on in." Austin glared at his
brother because he was asking for more than they
needed. When they went inside it smelled like
oil. Look at all the medals everywhere. This
guy must be an expert at dirt biking, exclaimed
Austin. I sure am. I started riding dirt bikes
when I was a little boy, and I didnt stop until
about ten years ago, replied the man sadly .
As a matter of fact I had the fastest time on
the tracks. I also never got a place lower than
second before in my life.

Wow, thats a really nice and shiny bike you
have hanging up on that wall, said Jeff.
Well, since I never ride it anymore and nobody
ever comes around here anymore I was thinking I
could give it to you for keeps. Youre
kidding, right? wonder Austin. No I am not.
You can really have it, but there is no gas in it
so you have to buy that. Works for me! said
Jeff. No, no, no! Austin said argrily.We
can not accept this our mom will get furious even
that we are here. No, no, it is fine. I bet
mom will be happy that we got a dirt bike without
paying. Shell congratulate us on our
cleverness. said Jeff. Ohh alright, but we
have to make sure we get home soon because the
sun is almost down, Austin reminded his
brothers. All right. Heres 40 for the
gasoline and thank you for the bike.

As they were leaving, the man told them that
there was a race tomorrow at 3 p.m. The man
said, Ill be watching out for you on the
track. All right. See you tomorrow, hollered
Jacob. When they got home, their Mom and Dad
wondered where they had been. The boys told them
that they got lost, but they did not tell them
that they were given a bike for free. They
thought they should keep it a secret in order to
be able to use the bike for the race tomorrow.
The next morning, the boys got up and got ready
to go dirt biking. The Mom asked, Where are you
boys going? Were just going for a morning
ride. Well, okay, but be back by lunch because
Ive almost finished preparing it. When the
boys got out and started riding their dirt bikes,
they got the other bike out of the garage and let
Jacob use it because he had not had any fun the
previous day. When they got to the race, it only
cost 5 to enter and they had to check out your
bike to be sure it was legal. When they started
on the race track, Jeff and Austin were in 5th
place and Jacob was in 2nd place. They were
amazed how great the bike worked.

When Jeff and Austin started speeding up,
somebody behind them kicked them off their bikes
when they were going around the track. Jacob
sped up and got in the league. On their way
home, Jeff and Austin had to stop at the
Emergency Clinic to get some bandages for their
cuts and bruises. When they got home, their Mom
asked, Where have you boys been? And, why are
you all dirty and scratched up? We went to a
race down by the hills where we got lost the
other day. But, look at the bright side, we won
first place and received a 125 prize. Their Mom
looked at them with a frown and then smiled.
Well, she said, Im really glad you told me
the truth. Ill be glad to get a dirt bike coach
for you now and refine your dirt bike racing
technique! Sweet! said the boys.
