Introduction
  • We are learning about Merchants .We have a lot of
    information for you.

What they sold
  • They sold knives, forks, pills, curtains for
    beds, woolcards, ink, lace, chamber pots, nails,
    ink pots, blankets, rugs, cloth, cloaks, diapers,
    cloth gloves, and venison.

Who they traded with
  • American merchants started to trade with China
    and farmers.

Their supplies
  • They bought and sold supplies.
  • They also traded for their supplies.
  • They got their supplies from shiping.
  • They got first pick from the shipping.
  • They picked the very best stuff from shipping.

Businesses
  • Some had good businesses because they sold cheap
    things. Some did not have good businesses because
    they did not have a lot to sell.

  • Only men could be Merchants. Woman could not be
    Merchants because they were to busy at home.

  • They are rich. Merchants built homes of stone,
    bricks, and wood. They sold fragile things like
    china and pottery.
  • There was a Merchant named George Smith.

What we learned about Merchants
  • We learned about some of the stuff they sold, who
    they traded with, how they built there houses and
    that only men were Merchants, that some did not
    have very good business, and sold some very
    interesting things. We learned more things then
    we thought we would.

Gunsmith
  • A Gunsmith makes guns.
  • They use metal to make the guns.
  • They began when they are 12 and 14 years old.
  • They finished probably when they where 21.
  • They repaired axes and other stuff.
  • Only a man can be a Gunsmith.

  • The main tool for a weaver is a loom.
  • If you do not build the loom perfectly square
    then you will have a croked weave.
