PICKENS COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS
Cross Country is our newest sport. It is a fall
sport and opens to all students. Coach- Carol
Morris
Football is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
students. PCMS plays in the North Georgia
Mountain School Football League which includes
JMS, Fannin Co., Union Co., Gilmer Co., Towns
Co., and Rabun Co. Head coach-Tony Weaver.
Girls Fast-Pitch is a fall sport is open to 6th,
7th and 8th graders. Try-out begin August 1st,
2nd, and 3rd and Roper Park from 330-530.
Student must have a current physical before they
try-out. Ten games are played including an end of
year tournament. They are usually 14 members on
the team. Coach- Tina and Billy Wheeler.
Soccer is a spring sport and is open to all 6th,
7th, and 8th grade students. Boys coach- Corey
Thompson Girls coach- Corey Thompson
Basketball is open to all grades. Students are
usually required to buy team shoes. Try-outs are
the last week in October. Boys Coach- Tony
Weaver. Girls Coach-Corey Thompson
Tennis begins early March and is open to all
grades. Student must provide a racquet. Coach-
Jackie Gise.
Golf is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
Students provide their own clubs. The same
schools compete as in football. It starts in the
last week of February. Coach-Tony Weaver.
Wrestling will be open to all students during the
winter. Coach-Sam Wigington
Cheerleading is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th
graders. It requires a physical. Try-outs are
held in the late spring and we cheer for football
and basketball. Each year the cheerleaders attend
camp to get them prepared. Head Coach-Rebecca
Holan.
All sports require a physical before students are
permitted try-out. Form may be picked up in the
front office.
