Architecture
  • All the Ancient Roman Architecture, was built a
    very long time ago. Some have even been used as
    natural landmarks.

The Pantheon
  • The Pantheon is the first temple to combine
    concrete construction with the more conservative
    if decorative use of Greek classical orders.
  • The classical hall with huge,40 roman feet high,
    columns of black and red Egyptian granite.
  • The height of the building from floor to ceiling
    is an incredible 142.
  • The Ceiling was like a dome.

The Colosseum
  • The Colosseum was limestone, brick concrete
    with marble facing.
  • It had a fabric canopy provided relief from sun.

The Palatine Hill
  • Rome first became a city on the Palatine Hill on
    753 B.C. It later became a place where palaces
    were built by the many emperors and the rich
    lived. On the Palatine hill, you will find mostly
    ruins of palaces and homes of the rich. The
    Circus Maximus was located next to the Palatine
    Hill.

Circus Maximus
  • It was first designed for chariot races.
  • Other events were held there, including
    gladiatorial combats and wild animal hunts,
    athletic events and processions.
  • A fire destroyed most of it in 31 BC.
