  • builds and maintains body tissues
  • your muscles, organs and Immune system are made
    of mostly protein
  • also contains amino acids that are
  • essential for you
  • in food like beef, fish, eggs dairy
  • products, nuts, beans and poultry.

VITAMINS
  • make your body work properly
  • Some food has more vitamins then others
  • fall in to 2 different categories
  • -water-soluble fat-soluble
  • Fat-soluble are like a,d,e and k which dissolve
    to fat ,is stored in your body
  • water soluble are like c and the b complex. needs
    to dissolve in to water before your body can
    dissolve them

  • boost your immune system, support normal growth
    and Development
  • help cells and organs do their job like carrots
    are good for your eyes
  • can also get in tablet form if you are not
    getting a lot of a vitamins
  • food like milk products, vegetables, fruit, and
    some grain products are a great source of vitamins

  • When people don't get enough of these important
    minerals, they can have health problems.
  • minerals help your body grow like vitamins,
    develop, and stay healthy
  • There are four impotent types of minerals
  • iron,zinc,potassium, calcium

  • really good for you and your bowels
  • it helps clean out your intestines by helping
    bowel movements
  • They are carbohydrates they cannot be digested by
    the human body so fibre does not contribute
    calories to ones diet.
  • There are two different fibres soluble fibres and
    iunsoluble fibres
  • In food like bran muffins, brown rice, fruit, and
    oatmeal.

    adding bulk to stool which improves bowel
    movements,
  • as they pass through the colon, insoluble fibres
    help cleanse the interior walls of the bowels
  • Soluble fibres
  • such as in fruit pectin's, are helpful in
    preventing atherosclerosis by reducing high
    cholesterol
  • triglycerides, thereby decreasing ones risk of
    heart disease and stroke.

  • Your body needs calories for energy.
  • You should eat 2000 calories a day
  • Need some calories to operate like your heart
    beating and your lungs breathing.

  • protein - 4 calories
  • fat - 9 calories
  • Everything has calories

  • is necessary for you to live
  • too much fat, especially saturated and trans fat,
    can raise blood cholerestol levels.
  • Type of fats in food
  • - Unsaturated fat
  • Monounsaturated fat
  • Polyunsaturated fat
  • Trans fat
  • Almost everything has fat in it
