Survey
  • Source http//www.smartgirl.org
  • 2002 Teen Reading Week survey in cooperation with
YALSA, a division of the American Library
Association. Used as a base for my survey.
  • Attempted to find out about attitudes toward
reading among 6th graders in my school.

15
Survey Questions
  • 15 questions
  • Given before iPods in the room (on paper)
  • Repeated at the end of school year (on computer)
    http//www.surveykey.com

16
Survey Results
  • Did not show a change in attitude because of the
    project
  • Did not consider the iPod book to be reading
  • Source for student reading materials is still
    primarily the school library.
  • Students want to read what they want to read
unless you can show them something better,
    cooler or funner

17
  • Students could not name 10 books they had read
    this year.
  • Students could not name top ten books ever read.
  • Students do not talk to teachers or librarians
    about what they read.
