The SNOW BALL

• Sunflowers and Kindergarten Classes

• The party theme started a day in November when
  our music teacher cancelled music. During
  morning meeting we were talking about our
  schedule and discussed that Miss Linda wouldnt
  be able to teach music that day. The children
  were a little disappointed, so we asked, What
  could we do instead of music? Usually
  kindergarten comes downstairs to our room and we
  do music together. They will probably be
  disappointed too! We came up with a few ideas,
  and eventually decided we should invite the
  kindergarten class down for a dance party. (Some
  of our other ideas included, go on a field trip
  and have an ice cream sundae partynot something
  we could pull off with just a few hours notice!)

So, the Sunflower class wrote an invitation and
asked the kindergarten class if they would join
us at for a dance party. We asked them to RSVP
so we would know if they were going to come. The
children also thought it would be fun if everyone
dressed in costume..

Sunflowers delivered.

We had so many ideas and so much to do, we
thought it would make the party more manageable
if we broke up into committees. We created a web
and broke our tasks into 5 committees
invitations and guest list, entertainment, gift
bags, decorations, and food and beverages. Each
child in both classes joined at least one
committee.

The children decided we should play games, sing
songs and dance. They came up with a list of
songs we could dance to.

• James Maybe we can have a game that we can
  throw snowballs!
• Kate Snowflakes on the round table and we can
  play match with them.
• Eric and we need to have a dance party at the
  end!
• Lilah We can play with flowers too!
• CaseyLets listen to Bop Till You Drop
• Hunter Can we listen to the hot dog dance?

The gift bag committee also decided that we
should decorate brown paper bags!

We decorated snowflakes and hung them from the
ceiling.

Food and Beverages

• The food and beverage committee came up with so
  many delicious ideas.
• Sophia we need to have ice cream sundaes!
• Alex yes, ice cream with chocolate chips.
• Madison and all different kinds of ice cream
  like rainbow and mint chocolate chip.
• Jaden and hot fudge!
• Sophia and butterscotch and cherries
• Jaden and some goldfish too!
• Madison WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! Were not going to
  eat a lot of junk food, just a little bit. We
  need fruits and vegetables like grapes.

One last detail, we had to decide attire for the
ball.we voted and the children decided we should
wear fancy clothes to the ball!
