  • Rules of Shariat
  • Prayers
  • Fasting
  • Khums
  • Zakat etc.

5
Writing and Collection of the Holy Quran
  • Quran was committed to writing from the very
    beginning.
  • There are numerous Ayats in which the Quran is
called Al-Kitab (meaning the written thing the
    book)
  • Prophet used to repeat what Jibrael revealed to
    him, as to not forget.
  • Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it.
Indeed it is up to Us to put it together and to
    recite it. (Al-Qiyamah - 7516-17)

6
Writing and Collection of the Holy Quran-Contd
  • Writers of the Holy Quran
  • Ali ibn Abi Talib
  • Ubayy bin Kab
  • Abdullah bin Rawaha
  • Khalid bin Said bin Al-Aas
  • At a later period Zaid bin Thabait among others

7
The Holy Quran being free from Discrepancies
  • Do they not contemplate the Quran? Had it been
from (someone) other than Allah, they would have
surely found many discrepancies. (Al-Nisa -482)

8
The Holy Quran A Miracle Performer
  • The Holy Quran is a
  • Miracle of Language and Style
  • Miracle of Prophecies
  • Miracle of Scientific Revelations

9
The Holy Quran A Miracle Performer-Contd
  • The Holy Quran is is not only a Miracle It is a
    Miracle Performer
  • It brought out the Miracle of transforming an
extremely ignorant and backward society into the
    guardians of knowledge and learning.

10
Miracle of Language
  • This is the greatest miracle of the Quran
  • Arabs at the time of the Prophet were extremely
    proud of their language.
  • Poets and eloquent speakers were idols of their
    tribes.
  • There used to be a yearly poetry competition
    where everyone came and recited

11
Miracle of Language
  • But the Quran came, and to their surprise, its
Miracle was its language. And Allah challenged
    them
  • Say, Should all human beings and jinn rally to
bring the like of this Quran, they will not
bring the like of it, even if the assisted one
    another. (Al-Isra 1788)
  • Do they say, He has fabricated it? Say, Then
bring ten Surahs like it, fabricated, and invoke
whomever you can, besides Allah, should you be
    truthful. (Hud 1113)
  • Do they say, He has fabricated it? Say, Then
bring down a Surah like it, and invoke whomever
you can, besides Allah, should you be truthful.
    (Yunus 10-38)

12
Miracle of Prophecies
  • When the Prophet was in Mecca, a war broke out
between the Romans and the Persians. The
Persians were victorious in this battle, which
made the Meccans extremely happy since the
    Persians were idolaters.
  • Byzantium has been vanquished in a nearby
territory, but following their defeat they will
be victors in a few years. (Ar-Rum 302-4)
  • In a few years, the Romans defeated the Persians.

13
Miracle of Prophecies
  • When the Prophet was about to Migrate to Medina,
he was extremely sad because he was leaving his
    home.
  • Indeed He who has revealed to you the Quran
will surely restore you to the place of return.
Say, My Lord knows best him who brings guidance
and him who is in manifest error. (Al-Qasas
    2885)
  • Prophet returned triumphantly to Mecca in a few
    years

14
Miracle of Prophecies
  • Prophet had a dream that he was entering Mecca
It was followed by this Ayaat.
  • Certainly Allah has fulfilled His Apostles
vision in all truth You will surely enter the
Sacred Mosque, God willing, in safety, with your
heads shaven or hair cropped, without any fear.
    (Al-Hujarat 4927)
  • As mentioned earlier, this came true also.

15
Miracle of Scientific Revelations
  • Life
  • The Human Embryonic Development
  • The description of the development of the human
baby is described in several places in the Holy
    Quran
  • He creates you in the womb of your mothers,
creation after creation, in a threefold darkness.
That is Allah, your Lord! (Al-Zumar 396)

16
The Human Embryonic Development - Contd
  • According to modern scientific knowledge, the
three veils of darkness refer to
  • The anterior abdominal wall
  • The uterine wall
  • The amniochorionic wall

17
The Human Embryonic Development - Contd
1. The anterior abdominal wall 2. The uterine
wall 3. The amniochorionic wall
18
The Human Embryonic Development - Contd
  • Certainly We created man from an extract of
clay. Then We made him a drop of Seminal fluid
(Nutfah) lodged in a secure abode.
  • Then We created the drop of fluid as a clinging
    mass (Alaqah).
  • Then We created the clinging mass as a fleshy
    tissue (Mudhgah).
  • Then We created the fleshy tissue as bones
    (Idhama).
  • Then we clothed the bones with flesh (Lahma).
  • Then We produced him as yet another creature.
  • So blessed is Allah, the best of creators!
    (Al-Muminun 2312-14)

19
The Human Embryonic Development - Contd
  • Seminal Fluid Nutfah Sperm
  • Clinging MassAlaqahLeech/bloodsucker.

20
The Human Embryonic Development - Contd
  • Fleshy tissue Mudhgah chewed substance

21
The Origin of Life in Water
  • The idea of life originating in the oceans is
strongly supported in the Holy Quran.
  • And We made every living thing out of water
    (Al-Anbiya 2130)
  • Allah created every animal from water (Al-Nur
    2445)
  • it is believed that early forms of life
developed in oceans or poolsIt has been
suggested that the colonization of land, about
425,000,000 years ago, was possible only because
enough ozone was then produced to shield the
surface from ultraviolet light for the first
    time. (Encyclopedia Brittanica)

22
The Ongoing Process of Creation
  • There are verses in the Holy Quran which
indicate that Allah has not finished creation
rather, it is an ongoing process.
  • and He creates what you do not know. (Al-Nahl
    168)
  • Allah creates whatever He wishes. Indeed Allah
has power over all things. (Al-Nur 2445)
  • The emergence of new galaxies from huge clouds of
    nebulae.
  • The evolution of species.

23
The Cerebrum
  • Allah said in the Holy Quran about one of the
unbelievers who forbade the Holy Prophet from
    praying at the kaaba
  • If he does not stop, We shall seize him by the
Naseyah (front of the head), a lying, iniquitous
    Naseyah! (Al-Alaq 9615)

24
The Cerebrum - Contd
  • This area of the cerebrum (from of the head) is
    responsible for
  • motivating, planning, and initiating good and
    sinful behavior, and
  • is responsible for the telling of lies and the
    speaking of the truth.

25
The Origin of the Universe
  • One of the most popular and widely accepted
theories in science is the Big Bang Theory.
  • This theory states that the universe was created
from a small dot of energy that exceeds our
    imagination.
  • This dot of energy exploded creating the
necessary material for the creation of the
    universe.
  • With the passage of time, Hydrogen and Helium
atoms began to combine and create galaxies, stars
    and planets.

26
The Origin of the UniverseContd...
  • The science of modern cosmology states that at
one point in time, the whole universe was nothing
but a cloud of smoke (a highly dense and hot
    gaseous composition.)

27
The Origin of the UniverseContd...
  • Scientists can now observe new stars forming out
of the remnants of that smoke.
  • Then He turned to the heaven, and it was smoke
    (Fussilat 4111)

28
The Origin of the Universe-Contd
  • Because the earth and the heavens above (sun,
moon, stars) have been formed from this same
smoke, we can conclude that the earth and the
    heavens were one connected entity.
  • Have the faithless not regarded that the heavens
and the earth were interwoven and We disjoined
    them (Al-Anbiya 2130)

29
The Expanding Universe
  • Scientists discovered the universe was expanding
    in the 1900s.
  • We have built the sky with might, and indeed it
is We who are its expanders. And the earth We
have spread it out, so what excellent spreaders
    We have been! (Al-Dhariyat 5147-48)

30
Time
  • The world experienced a great leap in science
when Einstein proposed his theories of
    Relativity.
  • According to his theories, time is relative, and
it depends on the speed at which one travels
  • A Muon (a particle smaller in size than an atom)
  • Einstein discovered this idea in 1921.

31
Time - Contd
  • 1330 years ago, Allah mentioned the idea of
    relativity in clear terms.
  • He directs the command from the heavens to the
earth, then it ascends toward Him in a day whose
span is a thousand years by your reckoning.
    (Al-Sajjdah 325)
  • The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day
whose span is fifty thousand years. (Al-Maarij
    704)

32
Earth
  • The Shape of the Earth
  • Today we can look at a globe and know that the
earth is somewhat like a ball or a sphere
  • Allah made this clear in the Holy Quran

33
Earth Contd
  • He winds the night over the day, and winds the
day over the night, and He has disposed the sun
and the moon, each moving for a specified term.
    (Al-Zumar 395)
  • Winds Kawwara which is used in describing the
action of coiling a turban around the head.

34
The Mountains
  • Allah clearly describes mountains in the Holy
    Quran
  • Have we not made the earth as a bed, and the
    mountains as pegs? (Al-Naba 786-7)

35
The Mountains Contd
  • Modern earth science have proven in the latter
half of the 19th century that mountains have deep
roots under the surface of the ground, several
times their elevations above the surface.

36
The Mountains - Contd
  • Allah says in the Quran that mountains hinder
    the shaking of the earth.
  • He cast in the earth firm mountains, lest it
should shake with you (Al-Nahl 1615)
  • Modern theory of plate tectonics holds that
mountains work as stabilizers for the earth.

37
The Clouds
  • Meteorologists have long studied thunderstorm
clouds to understand how they form
  • The clouds are pushed by the wind to an area of
    convergence

38
The Clouds Contd
  • The clouds join together forming a larger cloud

39
The Clouds Contd
  • Stacking when the clouds join together, they
grow vertically, as if it is stacked.

40
The Clouds Contd
  • Allah says in the Quran
  • Have you not regarded that Allah drives the
clouds, the He composes (joins) them, and He
piles them up, whereat you see the rain issuing
    from its midst?... (Al-Nur 2443)
  • Meteorologists have recently come to know these
details using equipment such as satellites,
    planes and computers.

41
The Proportion of Rain
  • ..and (He) sent down water from the sky in a
measured manner, and We revived with it a dead
    country. (Al-Zukhruf 4311)
  • This measure mentioned above deals with a
    couple of characteristics of rain.

42
The Proportion of Rain Contd
  • At any given time, the amount of rain, which
    falls on the
  • earth, is exactly the same.
  • 16 million tons of water evaporates from the
    earth.
  • This number is equal to the amount of water the
drops on the earth in one second
  • Another measure related to rain is its falling
    speed.
  • Minimum altitude of rain is 1200 meters.
  • An object with rains weight and size would fall
    at 558 km/h.
  • However, the speed of rain is 8-10 km/h.

43
The Proportion of Rain Contd
  • The atmospheric layer where it starts to rain is
    -40C.
  • Despite this, rain drops never turn into ice
    particles.
  • The reason is that water in the atmosphere is
    pure water

and a thought to reflect upon
48
  • Had We sent down this Quran upon a mountain,
you would have surely seen it humbled (and) go to
pieces with the fear of Allah. We draw such
comparisons for mankind, so that they may
    reflect. (Al-Hashr 5921)
