COVER LETTER
  • Follow the sample we gave you.
  • Dont forget to include the name of the
    scholarship.
  • Dont forget to SIGN your name in cursive.
  • Should have ONE cover letter for each scholarship
    you are applying to.

Recommendation Letters
  • Give your teachers ample time to write it (at
    least 2 weeks)
  • Pick someone that knows you well, academically
    and/or personally
  • Give the teacher a letter of reference request
    sheet (use the one at the front of the packet)
  • Make sure you write out personal information for
    teacher (a-f on request form), so they can write
    the best recommendation possible
  • Keep a copy of the request for yourself

  • Can turn in anytime before application deadline
  • MUST include wallet size picture of yourself
  • College Attending wait to fill out until you
    know where you are going
  • Can leave this blank when you hand it in, come
    back to Guidance when you know where you are
    definitely going
  • Hand in to Mrs. Hevia in Guidance when completed

  • Sample in Packet
  • If you have your essay finished by October 9th,
    you can turn it in to Guidance for the
    Association of American University Women to proof
    read it
  • It will be returned by November 16th
  • It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to take advantage of
    this!

    to least recent
  • Unusual Circumstances- Anything causing financial
    hardship, i.e. parent loses job. If not, write in
    N/A (Leave nothing BLANK)

    scholarship, with personalized cover letter
  • Special- Follow instructions on how to retrieve
    application, i.e. guidance office, write to
    donor, go to donor website
  • Community Foundations Scholarships, due in
    February (in center of directory)

    your counselor, BEFORE you make copies
