3Calatrava and the City complex
- Valencia city Mayor, Rita Barbara, commissioned
Calatrava to undertake the design and building of
the multi-building complex - Building began in July, 1996, and the first
building, or element, of the entire city, was
the L'Hemisferic, which opened in 1998. - The other elements have all opened within a
similar timeframe, with work on the 6th and final
building now in progress.
