Design Statement

• Design and build a spaghetti bridge to withstand
  the largest load while minimizing the weight.

•  Using the skills youve developed with
  structures, design and construct a bridge made of
  spaghetti. Working in your teams, students will
  design and build a spaghetti bridge to withstand
  the largest load while minimizing the weight.

Constraints

• Materials
• Models will be constructed using spaghetti,
  yellow carpenters glue or white glue, and one
  3x5 note card.
• Students supply spaghetti use whatever type you
  select, uncooked.
• Hardware
• None!
• Size
• Must span a 12-inch length minimum width of
  2X2-inch platform
• Bridge will be subjected to weight in the middle
• Tools and Machines
• The project must be produced by using only the
  materials and tools given to you by your
  instructor exacto knife, scissors, glue, etc.

The Test Bridge Evaluation

• 1.      Each model will be weighed. NOTE the
  weight of your bridge carries a significant
  penalty!!
• 2.      Each model will be load tested to
  failure.
• 3.      Models will be ranked based on an
  efficiency number.
• The efficiency of each model will be calculated
  from
