Quality of Prototype
4
Our Type of Prototype and its justifications
5
prototype functionality (software)
  • The user can now choose the type of food
    they like.
  • The function to control the amount of each item
    per order is also available.
  • The food ingredients are fully displayed to show
what each food is made of in order to let the
user consumes his/her food with comfort.
  • The parts that still require more work on are
the connection between the touch screen device
and the software system, the connection between
the users and waiters screen, and the gaming
    option of the user side.
  • For the open house, we will show the software
system on a computer notebook. The touch screen
device will be connected to another computer
notebook running touch screen demos that allow
the user to interact with and have the first hand
experience of how the final product will work and
    feel like.
  • The major bug we have just recently discovered
is the connection may only be allowed to form
with the support of Action Script 3.0 which in
our case we have used the well known Action
Script 2.0. Further research has already begun to
investigate the transfer from the older version
    to the newer version.

6
prototype functionality (Hardware)
  • Our hardware is 70 functional.
  • The user will be able to interact with the touch
    of their fingers.
  • Multi-touch is supported which will enhance
the gaming experience and a possible multi-view
or 3D view (VR movie) of the food items in the
    final product.
  • All the experience described above will be shown
through the involvement of the user with the
interactive demos in the open house.
  • The hardware will still require more protection
development to be able to serve as a regular
table where the user can eat and drink.

7
prototype integration - hardware and software,
backend system and user interface
  • Table constructed according to our plans added
    ideas
  • Touchlib interface followed Touchlib
    instruction
  • SoftwareFlash used action script 2.0 instead
    of action script 3.0
  • Backend(MySQL Database) stopped
  • User interface altered slightly into more
appealing (no classic buttons and plain
    backgrounds

8
Cognitive Walkthrough
9
description of the prototype of the system
  • In the prototype system, the user is able to
try out the technology of multi-touch of the
touch screen. The screen is built with 40 IR LEDs
with a camera and a projector underneath. The
projector is used to project the digital menu on
the screen. The IR LEDs will send out the wave on
the screen to help the camera detect user's
action. When the user touches the screen, the
camera will detect the spot that the user touched
by checking the interrupted infrared wave. Then
the camera will send the touching data to the
computer so that the computer can react to the
    user's action.

10
description of the task
  • Based on our past prototype testing sessions
  • The evaluator will be asked to order foods
    according to the instruction.
  • Choose item that the evaluator wants to order
  • Choose how many the evaluator wants to order
  • Pay the bill
  • All the tasks above are expected to be doing by
    customer as they normally would.

11
who are our users and what kind of experience and
knowledge they possess
  • TeenagersExperience with computer, latest
    gadgets, iPod, digital games
  • VegetariansExperience in getting detailed
descriptions for the food they consume
  • Retired peopleExperience with the struggle of
high tech gizmo, including computer keyboards
