• 53,000 children under 14
• Huge influx of immigrants to work at casinos
• Expensive Housing, reduction in services on a
  federal, state, and local level
• NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION!

Relationships with Community Organization

• Many already existing including Centro de la
  Communidad, Social Service organizations,
  domestic violence shelters
• Lead Organization and NLCSK previous
  collaborations
• Reaching out to the WHOLE county
• Picked new organizations through referrals
• Make contacts last, they become advocates as well
  as someone to go to when everyone is showing up
  at your office wanting their car seat

How we got em

• Set up a breakfast meeting soon after returning
  from Detroit, and invited everyone who we wanted
  involved
• 95 of the organizations we invited came!
• We then gave a power point presentation which
  included

• Issues related to child passenger safety - i.e..
  why its not ok to let kids bounce around in the
  car even though you did it ?
• Identifying solutions to preventing injuries and
  fatalities to kids in our area (legislation,
  clinics, outreach, and the cssis)

• we found spending time on this makes a huge
  difference with community partners but also with
  caregivers

So what now?

• With the help of our community partners we have
  given approximately 700 seats to children in need
  
• To keep engaged quarterly letters and then follow
  up phone calls to all stay on the same page
• Update materials on program
