• North America is the third largest continent
  ranking behind Asia and Africa.
• The United States, Canada, and Mexico along with
  20 other countries make up the continent.
• Scientists believe that Native Americans were the
  first humans to step foot on North American soil.
• In 1492, following its discovery by Italian
  explorer Christopher Columbus, European
  colonization began.
