• Arnold Bocklin was bon on October 19, 1827 in
  Basel Switzerland and die on January 16, 1901 in
  s. Domenico in Fiesole.
• After finishing his work between 1845 and 1847 at
  Johann Wilhelm Schirmer in Düsseldorf , Bocklin
  went to Rome in 1850 where he met Oswald
  Achenbach and Anselm Feuerbach.
• In 1855 he returned to that of Adolf Fredrich
  Graf von Schack, who bought 14 of his paintings.
• He was made the professor of landscape at the
  Weimar School of Arts in 1860, a job that he had
  for two years be fore he went back to Rome and
  then to Basel on 1866.

• After he had traveled to Weimar, Rome and Basel,
  Bocklin went back to Munich in 1871.
• In 1874 he moved to Florence where he became
  associated with a group of artists related to
  Adolf von Hildebrand and Hans von marees, and
  then in 1876 he stayed in Munich From 1885 to
  1892 he lived near Zurich.
• Bocklins work was very liked in his time, and he
  able to support a large family and a long life
  career.
