Interdependencies
  • Dependent on deliveries from all subsystems to be
able to do the core of our work.
  • EM CAL TKR mini-tower deliveries.
  • EM GASU and flight software support from ELX.
  • All Flight Hardware and Software.
  • MGSE FEM Analysis
  • Budget for IT Flight Electronic Techs and the
hiring of those techs (4 full time people
    starting 12/15/03) is currently the
responsibility of ELX. IT will schedule the work
    for these Techs.
  • System engineering test plans are required as
input to IT test plans and resulting procedures.
  • Mission level EGSE decisions can impact IT EGSE
    schedule and budget.

9
Flight Hardware Procurements
  • No flight hardware procured by IT. All flight
    components come from a subsystem.

10
Flight Hardware Manufacturing Plan Status
  • LAT-MD-01376 LAT Integration Test Plan In
    Work
  • LAT-MD-01137 LAT EM Test Plan In signoff
  • LAT-MD-01533 EGSE Plan In revision

11
Engineering Model Testing Closure Status
  • IT Tests of the TKR mini-tower were done and the
results reported to the Engineering meeting at
June 10 Engineering Meeting. Data is still being
    worked.
  • EM tower (CAL EM and TKR mini-tower) due in
    August to IT
  • Complete EM Tower functional test by September
18th and then make available to Flight Software.
  • Complete EM Calibration by October 12th.
  • Need 1x4 Grid and TRK EM Mechanical tower a week
before Mechanical fit check to assemble TRK EM
    into grid.
  • Perform a mechanical fit check using 1x4 Grid,
TKR Mechanical Tower, and EM CAL on October 13th.
  • CAL EM on the NRL loading dock and the TKR
mini-tower in Italian Customs by October 17th.
  • Support the GSI Beam Test, including the CAL and
the TKR mini-tower (run Carbon in the daytime)
    November 14th 24th.

12
Open Flight Design Issues/ Status Trades
  • CAL-Grid interface design, impacts IT MGSE,
assembly, processes, and procedures. Design not
    completed.
  • Grid EMI Skirt design impacts IT assembly,
processes and procedures. Design not completed.
  • X-LAT plate design impacts IT MGSE, assembly,
processes and procedures. Design not completed.
  • Radiator interface and MGSE design impact IT,
assembly, processes and procedures. Design not
    completed.
  • Environmental test sensor requirements impact IT
    assembly, processes and procedures. Requirements
    have not been finalized.
  • LAT pointing knowledge requirements are under
review by the project. IT test plans cannot be
finalized until we know the final requirements.

Cost/Schedule Status (May Month End)

Beam test change request has been approved and
has been incorporated for the June Report.
The monthly Cost and Schedule Variances are
trending negative
14
Issues/Concerns/Suggestions/Risks
  • Late delivery to IT of EM parts and EGSE
    software test scripts.
  • Late delivery has delayed preparations for LAT,
particularly in areas of IFCT and SVAC. Possible
    impact on EGSE.
  • Part of EGSE/MGSE verification strategy depends
    on IT EM program.
  • Finalization of all LAT test plan requirements is
not complete post CDR. This is resulting in
compressed schedule and potential increased cost
for IT. Current estimates are September for
completing all test plans from the Design Team.
  • Delivery of flight hardware to IT may be late.
  • IT EGSE is proceeding with in-house developed
test executive software. Change to another system
for Observatory and/or IOC will require major
    cost change request.
  • Spacecraft interface detail uncertainty.
  • Environmental test fixtures.
  • EGSE interface.
  • MGSE handling fixtures.
  • SIIS fidelity uncertainty.
  • Delivery of flight hardware to IT may be late.
  • When will a decision be made about where to go
for Environmental Testing? This will impact
preparations and design of Vib and T/V fixtures.
