Early Years
  • John Ozzy Osbourne was born on December 3,
    1948.
  • He grew up in the town of Birmingham, England.
  • Ozzy dropped out of school at the age of 15 and
    went to work at low paying jobs.
  • He was so unhappy about his jobs that he turned
    to crime robbing and vandalizing.
  • He went to jail for about a year or so.
  • Thats how he got the tattoo on his knuckles
    O-Z-Z-Y.
  • Then when he got released, he ran into one of his
    old friends and joined his band.

Later on in Life
  • They found that another band had the same name as
    them and changed theirs to Black Sabbath
  • They took this name from a movie that they saw.
  • On Friday, February 13, 1970 they released their
    first album.
  • This was a big break through for him because
    after the C.D., thats when he got his cult
    today.

All About Ozzy
  • During this period he married Thelma Mayfair and
    twice became a father.
  • But unfortunately he and the band became drug
    addicts and alcoholics.
  • This is how he got his reputation of being a type
    of person who is a, what people call today, Bad
    Boy.

  • People started rumors about Ozzy when he got so
    angry that he shot a bunch of his chickens in his
    chicken coop.
  • They started rumors about how he was an animal
    torturer.
  • Black Sabbath was said to be Satanism's because
    of words in lyrics from songs and images people
    got.
  • In 1977 Ozzys father past away, which caused
    him to leave the band for a long period.

  • This sad period in his life caused him to be
    uninterested in Black Sabbath and wasnt showing
    up for practices.
  • After the band had a concert they later got sick
    of what Osbourne was doing and they kicked him
    out.
  • After that he then took on a roll of drug abuse.
  • This led to him divorcing his wife Thelma and
    finding a girlfriend to Sharon Arden who is the
    daughter of rock manager, Don Arden who helped
    him turn his life around.

  • Sharon encouraged Ozzy to go solo in his music
    career.
  • Ozzy joined with Randy Rhoads, a guitarist, to
    start his career.
  • His first C.D. was Blizzard Of Ozz.
  • This was a huge hit and soon he went on a tour to
    perform his songs and a little bit from Black
    Sabbath.

  • In 1981 he released his new album, Diary of a
    Madman. Which eventually sold more then five
    million copies and this was the start of Ozzys
    new solo career.
  • He went on a tour and had a new gimmick, to throw
    meat at the crowd. This led to bad things for
    Ozzy, he was also getting pelted with gross
    things, even a bat. Thinking the bat was dead,
    Ozzy bit into it realizing it was alive!

Next Steps In Life
  • On February of 1982, Osbourne urinated on the
    side of the Alamo, in Texas, while he was drunk,
    which mad Texans angry.
  • This landed Ozzy in jail on charges of defacing a
    national replica.
  • His bus/pilot driver was intoxicated and wanted
    to buzz Ozzys tour bus but instead crashed the
    airplane killing Randy Rhoads, the guitarist.

  • Ozzy replaced Randy with Brad Gillis from Night
    Ranger, and the tour continued, but Ozzy remained
    deeply depressed.
  • Later that summer, Ozzy married Sharon Arden.
    They had been dating for a long-period of time.
    He also recorded a live album, Speak Of the
    Devil.
  • During this time Osbourne grew unstable because
    of his drug and alcohol abuse. Also depression
    from his former band member dying.

His Life Does Go On
  • Osbourne also got in to business with CBS
    records. When he went to celebrate this great
    deal, Sharon had planned a gimmick, to let two
    doves go for the showing of peace. Ozzy came so
    intoxicated to the celebration that he bit the
    head off one of the birds, this causing a media
    uproar.
  • After this event, he entered rehab, this was an
    exciting time in his life because he was also
    being held for a lawsuit. Some lady claimed that
    her sons committed suicide after listening to one
    of his songs, entitled Suicide Solution.

  • In the year of 1984, Osbourne recruited guitarist
    Jake E. Lee. Then in 1988 He got another new
    guitarist, Zakk Wylde.

  • By 1991 Osbourne sobered up and released and
    album much more softer then usual. This was a
    huge success.

Hes Older, but Still Remembers His Childhood.
  • As Ozzy got older, he revealed a story about how
    he was abused as a child.
  • He says, When I was 11 two older youths began
    abusing me after school and continued on a
    regular basis.

  • He also said, I was afraid to report the
    incidents to my parents and only this year I
    began to come to terms with the emotional effects
    of the abuse
  • Everything when you are a kid affects you in
    later life, said Osbourne, if you build a wall
    with rocky foundations you are going to have a
    pretty unstable wall when its finished.

  • Osbourne had to reschedule a tour to Europe until
    next year because of the effects on his childhood
    memories. He is also taking medication to treat
    tremors.
  • He first started to get abused when he was with
    his sister. The older youths waited everyday
    after school for Ozzy. He says it felt like it
    went on forever.
  • Osbourne is now 54 and this still, today, haunts
    him.

Implications
  • This effects me in so many ways, by making me
    more afraid of whos out there in the world
    today.
  • This effects the state by maybe all people are
    afraid like me now and some people might have
    gone through this also.
  • This effects the nation by letting them know that
    people out there are like this and parents more
    afraid of letting children out on their own.
  • This effects the world by everyone else knowing
    the same thing that there are people out there
    who want to torture others and them now being
    afraid that someday it could be them. Also maybe
    some people arent afraid because they think they
    can defend themselves.
