Artist Statement
  • I have been working with art ever since I
learned how to walk. Drawing, coloring, painting
you name it. Art is the only thing in my life I
would never consider giving up because it has
actually given me the confidence to express
myself visually and emotionally. My subject
matter depend on my interests or my imaginations
that go on through my head. My future intentions
after high school is to study marine biology at
UNC Wilmington. As creative and ambitious as I
am, I do plan on becoming a marine biologist but
a marine biologist who takes photos of the under
    sea life and draws/paints them.
  • As an honors 3 student, I feel pretty blessed
for the artistic gift that God has given me. My
incredible artwork has inspired my art teacher
Mrs. Wiggins to place me in an advanced course
and not only that, she has even enrolled my
printmaking picture of a dolphin into the Womens
Club competition in Fuquay. It didnt win any
awards but I was still glad it was good enough to
enter. My favorite media and themes I like to use
in my artwork are quite challenging. If I see a
photo or a picture that may look like it will
take a fortnight to complete then guess what, in
my sketchbook it goes. I love to color my artwork
with pastels. Pastels are kind of like chalk but
are colored and are made for paper instead of
blackboards. Pastels actually bring out more
color and make the artwork more lifelike I think
which is why it is my favorite medium to use.
  • I would have never thought the artwork I have
created in the last few years here at MCHS would
turn out to be so neat and professional. Thanks
to this miracle, I probably owe it to my art
teacher Mrs. Wiggins for giving me some of these
great media and techniques that I have learned. I
am amazed at my talent as an artist. I do see a
future of continuing my gift as an artist and I
will probably end up fulfilling it!

Self Portrait
  • Okay, I have no clue what had given me the idea
to draw myself as a mermaid whom appears to be
underwater thinking about her past experiences on
land as a human. Anyway, It had impressed me on
how well I could draw myself (I cannot draw
people very well) and how that mermaid ended up
    looking exactly like me.

5
Dolphin monoprint
  • This monoprint unbelievably turned out to be one
of Mrs. Wiggins's favorite pieces of art I have
created in the last 2 semesters I've had with
her. This piece took me a fortnight to complete
but luckily I managed to finish it on time!

6
Clay storytellers project
  • I remember making this for Ms. Willifords kids
last year. Although Ariel may not have been a
storybook character but she is one of Disneys
well known characters that gave me the idea that
she would be notorious in Ms. Willifords class.

7
The Phantom of the Opera
  • This here was actually my latest sketch that I
had considered to be one of my best yet. It had
impressed me very much because I'm not the best
artist when it comes to drawing people and, plus,
this was the first time I have ever used oils.

8
Waterfall (landscape project)
  • This is probably the best piece of art I think I
have ever accomplished this semester. I took my
time and I got to get a new experience in oils.

9
(Big) Final project
  • This is definitely a big final project because
first of all, this is the messiest piece of work
I have painted and second, it took me till the
last day of class to finish!

10
Monoprint Landscape
  • I thought it was going to take me a month to
complete this monoprint. It included so much
detail and color that I was very proud of myself
for completing it in a week.

11
NYC worms view pic
  • This picture of a building in New York City is my
favorite because if I try to look at it from the
front, it just sends me falling off my chair!
