2
Kangaroo Feet
  • The feet of the stars are lethal weapons
because they can deliver a hard kick to your
stomach. The kangaroo can sprint 40 miles an
hour, faster than any of their predators. The
kangaroo can jump ten feet at a time. The males
are called boomers and the females are fliers.

3
Colors of kangaroos
  • These are the different colors of kangaroos the
red kangaroo and the gray kangaroo.

4
Wallabies
  • The wallabies are the smallest kind of kangaroo.
The wallaby can grow to 6 feet long. The wallaby
is a herbivore it eats grass, leaves and roots.

5
Pouches
  • The female kangaroos have pouches on their
abdomen. All animals with pouches are called
marsupials. The babies are called joeys and the
mothers are called fliers. The babies have to
crawl 6 inches from the birthplace to the pouch,
but they are only ¾ inches long and the pouches
each have 4 mammary glands for milk.

6
Dingoes
  • The dingo is the main predator of the kangaroo.
The dingoes are not pets they are wild dogs.
Dingoes hunt in packs, but they dont have much
luck. A large kangaroo can fight off a wild dingo
    with its feet.

7
Australia
  • In Australia there are six sections the
    equatorial, tropical, subtropical, desert,
grassland and temperate, but it is mostly desert
    and dry grasslands.

less then 3,000,000 square miles. It is also the
smallest continent and the flattest and the
lowest. The capital is Canberra. The natives are
the Aborigines who still live in the central area
    called the outback.
  • Australia is the home to many unique
    animals such as kangaroos, wallabies,

Platypus Habitat
  • The platypus lives on the east coast of Australia
and in Tasmania. They live in fresh water
streams or lakes and build burrows 20 to 52 feet
long. The platypuses are protected by the
government and anyone caught hunting or catching
a platypus will be fined or sent to jail.

11
Platypus
  • The platypus is an egg-laying mammal.
They are neighbors of the kangaroos in Australia.
  • The platypus has webbed feet to help it
catch its prey. The male has a venomous spur on
its two back paws. It eats crayfish, shrimp,
water plants, worms, insects, and fish eggs.

12
Platypus and its eggs.
  • They mate under water and go to the burrow
and the female lays eggs. She collects leaves and
grass to block the entrance to keep the air
moist. She lays on the eggs for ten days. The
babies hatch out of the eggs and drink milk from
their mothers milk patches. They open their eyes
    in eleven weeks.

Australian Outback and learned about the big
footed star, the kangaroo. Dont forget about
    the platypus, wallaby, and dingo.
