Why is it a Concern?

• Injuries from horseplay can result in criminal
  prosecution. Courts have ruled that these
  injuries are not just an accident, but a
  deliberate act.
• Costs a lot of money lawsuits, lost time, lost
  equipment, and personal injury.

OSHA Regulations

• 1926.21 The employer shall instruct each employee
  in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe
  conditions and the regulations applicable to his
  work environment to control or eliminate any
  hazards or other exposure to illness or injury.

Prevention

• As a worker never initiate, encourage or
  participate in horseplay.
• If someone starts it, let them know that you
  don't like it and will not let it continue.
• If everyone on the job assumes a responsible
  attitude about this kind of juvenile behavior,
  the jokester will be without an audience.

Remember

• Horseplay benefits no one and usually only builds
  up resentment and fosters retaliation.
• Practical jokers can not guarantee the success of
  their jokes.
• They can guarantee that they increase the chance
  of an accident occurring.
