What do you think?
Make a prediction about the story. Write your
prediction on a piece of paper. Who do you think
is the main character of the story? Why do you
think this? Where do you think the story takes
place? Why do you think this?
7
Begin reading the story.
  • Stop the story after the family leaves for the
Ball and Bubba is left at the ranch alone.

8
Make a Prediction
  • Does this story remind you of
  • another story you have read?
  • Which one? Do you think Bubba
  • will go to the ball? If so, how will
  • he get there, what will he wear?
  • Will Mz. Lurleen dance with him?

9
  • Continue reading the story until you get to the
part where Bubbas magic wears off and he takes
off running out of the Ball.
  • What do you think will happen next? How will the
story end? Will Mz. Lurleen and Bubba be
together or will one of the wicked stepbrothers
    end up with Mz. Lurleen?

10
  • Stop reading the story when you get to the part
    where Mz. Lurleen yells,
  • Wait! she yelled, chasing after him.
  • In complete sentences write what happens next in
the story and how does the story end. Why do you
think the story ends this way? What do you know
about these characters that makes you think this
way? What information did you use from the
beginning of the story to help you write your
ending? Be specific and use examples from the
    story.
