New BenefitsPTO Buy Down
  • Some employees will have vacation balances that
will be at or near or even greater than the PTO
maximum accrual limit at the time of the transfer
  • The college will buy down employees who are close
to the maximum accrual limit to provide the
opportunity to continue to accrue from the start
    of the PTO program date
  • This is a one time cash out based on the vacation
    balance as of 1/5/2008.
  • This payment will be included in the January 25,
    2008 payroll

Current and New Accruals
16
What Has Not Changed
  • Employees must still request time off in advance.
  • Illness and accidents are the obvious exceptions
  • Supervisors must still balance the requests of
the employees with the requirements of the job
  • Employees will still use paid time before they
    have unpaid time
  • When maximum accruals are reached, employees will
    stop accruing PTO time
  • Holidays, funeral leave and jury duty benefits
    remain unchanged
  • Workers compensation benefits are separate time
    off benefits. Employees cannot supplement
workers compensation pay with SLR or PTO

17
What Has Changed
  • Employees will be paid 60 of pay on the 8th
calendar day of short term disability instead of
    waiting 6 months
  • SLR and PTO will be used to supplement STD to
    100
  • Vacation days, sick days and personal days
    combine to make up PTO
  • All PTO hours count toward overtime calculation
  • PTO does not have to be taken as whole days
  • PTO time is not lost if unused
  • Other than sick days, the reason for use of PTO
    is not required on timesheets
  • Vacation donation program ends
  • If PTO reaches the maximum accrual limit,
employees will stop accruing, and therefore lose,
    potential PTO hours
