Laura Guttridge graduated from The University of
Central Florida with a philosophy degree. UCF and
is the second largest university in the United
States. It was established in 1963 and has
awarded more than 200,000 degrees to alumni from
across the globe.

Laura is popular as an animal activist, former
swimsuit model, and an author. She is a
vegetarian and she promotes a vegetarian
lifestyle as well. By becoming a vegetarian, a
person not only eats and lives healthy, but it
also saves animals from cruelty. She was also the
co/founder of Marion County Voices for Animals
and served as its president.

This small animals right group was formed to
protect animals in central Florida. MCVA was
successful in helping convince The Marion County
Animal Shelter to stop using the cruel
decompression chamber to kill unwanted animals,
and switch to the more humane lethal injection.
In 2002 Laura was a top signature gatherer for a
ballot initiative that banned the cruel
confinement of pigs on factory farms in Florida.

She has been staging a protest every year for
over a decade now at the Fellsmere Frog Leg
Festival, (an event held in Fellsmere) to protest
against the cruelty to frogs. This festival kills
over 100,000 frogs each year. These frogs used to
be gigged locally from the wild, now they are
shipped in from Asia.

About Laura Guttridge Laura Guttridge is an
animal activist, a former successful swimsuit
model and an author. She is highly educated with
a graduation in Bachelors of Philosophy from the
prestigious philosophy department at The
University of Central Florida. She is also the
author of the childrens book Gypsy the Christmas
Cat which teaches children about trust,
compassion and patience.

The book is based on a real life cat named Gypsy
that the author rescued many years ago. Children
learn about giving unconditional love, affection,
kindness and a home to animals. She has received
many awards for protecting animals such as 2007
Humanitarian Of The Year Award from The Humane
Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County.
She is on the Board of Directors for The Animal
Rights Foundation of Florida and she also
established Marion County Voices for Animals.
