The Solar System
  • By Kaitlyn

2
  • Once upon a time there was a little girl named
Amber and her friend Sydney. She was on her way
to outer space and decided to stop on all the
planets. The first planet she went to is Mercury
which has no atmosphere and no moons. Mercury is
the closest to the sun. The surface has many
craters and high cliffs. The temperature range
from 425 degreas C during the day to 170 degreas
C at night. Amber and Sydney was burnning up so
they left because it is the first planet and
    closest to the sun.

3
  • The next planet Amber wanted to land on was
Venus. The atmosphere is very thick made mostly
of carbon dioxide and has no moons. Venus is the
second planet from the earth. Venus is similar to
Earth in size and mass. Droplets of sulfuric acid
in atmosphere give clouds a yellow color.
Surface has craters, fault like cracks, and
    volcanos.

4
  • The next planet Sydney went to is Earth with
atmosphere that protects life and has one of the
large moon. The surface temperature allows water
to exist as solid, liquid, and gas. Earth is the
only planet where life is known to exist. Later
after they got tired of earth they wanted to go
    to Mars.

5
  • The next planet Amber wanted to see is Mars. Mars
has thin atmosphere composed mostly of carbon
dioxide and has two moons. The surface appears
redish-yellow because of iron oxide in soil. Huge
dust storm of ten blanket the planet. The surface
temperatures range from 125 degreas C to 35
    degreas C.

6
  • After Sydney got off of Mars she wanted to got to
Jupiter. Jupiters atmosphere is mostly hydrogen
and helium. Continuous storms, swirl on the
planet. Jupiter has the largest great red spot.
Jupiter has faint rings and has four large moons
and at least 59 smaller moons, one of its moons,
    Io, has active volcanos.

7
  • The next planet Amber was going to land on is
Saturn. Saturn has thick atmosphere that is
mostly hydrogen and helium. Saturn has a complex
ring system and has at least 47 moons. The
largest is Titan and it is larger than Mercury.

8
  • The next planet Sydney wanted to go to is Uranus.
Uranus has at least 27 moons. Uranus's atmosphere
is hydrogen, helium, and methane. Uranuss axis
of rotation is nearly parallel to planer of orbit
and its large, gaseous planet with thin, dark
    rings.

9
  • The next planet Amber wanted to stop at was
Neptune. Neptune has at least 13 moons and its
atmosphere causes its bluish- green color.
Neptune has dark- colored storms in its
atmosphere. Neptune is a large, gaseous planet
with rings that vary in thickness. Neptune is
sometimes farther from the sun than Pluto.

10
  • The last planet Sydney wanted to go to was Pluto
which is a dwarf planet. Pluto is surrounded by
only thin atmosphere. Pluto has three moons and
there names are Charon, Hydra, and Nix. Pluto has
    a solid icy- rock surface.

11
Asteroids
  • Asteroids are between the orbit of Mars and
Jupiter. A Asteroid is a piece of rock similar to
the material that formed into planets.

12
Comets
  • A comet is composed of dust and rock particels
mixed with frozen water, methane, and ammonia.
