Featured Artist Medium Elizabeth
Galecke Photography
Elizabeth Galecke specializes in fine art
portraiture with an emphasis on black and white.
Elizabeth's photographs capture the subject in a
casual, comfortable environment using the
outdoors, your home, or her studio as a
backdrop. Elizabeth photographs a wide array of
subjects ranging from children to bridal
portraits.
A Day In The Life Elizabeth's "A Day in the Life"
service is designed to capture the rituals of
your family's everyday life. Her camera lens
focuses on your children, from waking up in the
morning to their bedtime stories in the evening.
These moments happen before your eyes everyday,
yet once they are bound together in a beautiful
custom-made album, your story is frozen in time
and held in a treasured place for years to come.

Artists Statement
For me dialectic is a fascinating approach for
changes. In dialectic development occurs through
the stages of thesis, antithesis and synthesis.
Although we are not aware of the dialectic in our
lives we find it in our behavior and in our
emotions. It is the driving force of scientific
discoveries, and it is part of the evolution of
society.
Art quilts allow me to depict examples of
dialectic through the choice of color, shapes and
material. Bright colors, bold shapes and soft
fabric are combined with fragile glass beads or
rigid metal wires. The opposites are embraced and
come together as one.
My education and professional training allowed me
to develop an intimate relationship with the most
amazing type of art that exists for me. With an
MS in biology and a PhD in biochemistry Im
exposed to the beauty of nature on a
macromolecular scale as well as the intriguing
interactions of molecules on a cellular level.
Life around me is a never-ending source of
inspiration.

Featured Artist Medium Beth Lake Painting
I have been creatively looking at the world for
a very long time. My paintings represent both
the painter and printmaker in me with the images
becoming more minimal as the years pass by. I
find my work is directly influenced by images of
children whose immediacy, passion and sense of
life often strike the very core of what I am
looking for. I graduated with a BFA in
printmaking from Guildford College and moved to
California where I attended the San Francisco
Art Institute.

First Environments, and with the help of a very

Beyond Still life. A recognizable subject
presents the artist with endless possibilities.
The relationship between artist and the subject
reveal themselves in my paintings through the
interplay of light, space, and color. The
luscious maternity of fruit is reflected in the
fullness of curve, the richness of hue. Nature is
refracted through the lens of human experience
and assumes the contours of the human form.

Vessels and Bridges. Another recent direction in
the artist landscapes explores the quiet moments
of sunrise and sunset touching the scene. The
characters are simple vessels or boats that share
the moment. In many of the works one finds a
arching bridge to suggest our connection between
different moments in our past and
future. Artist Bio His beloved grandmother,
herself a painter of somber landscapes and
delicate botanicals, instilled in him a love for
the process of art and encouraged him as a child
to find his own artistic voice. The artist has a
degree in Biology from Furman University and a
degree from the Memphis College of Art. By day,
he is the art director for the NIEHS journal
"Environmental Health Perspectives"
